National Runner-Up: Rohman Earns All-America Honors at 125 Pounds

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa– Augustana wrestling’s Jaxson Rohman finished second at the 2023 DII National Championships and earned All-America honors at 125 pounds. This is the second trip to the national tournament for Rohman and his first All-America honor.

Rohman reached the National Championship match with a win over No. 1 Cole Laya of West Liberty Saturday morning, 4-3.

In the championship match, Rohman wrestled hard on his feet in the first period, keeping the match scoreless.

In the second period, he started on top and Garcia earned the first point of the match with an escape. Rohman brought Garcia down to the mat to take a 2-1 lead, but an escape by Garcia would tie the match at 2-2 to end the second period.

In a cat-and-mouse game throughout, and especially the third period, Garcia used a takedown with less than 10 seconds on the clock to claim the victory.

Rohman, a sophomore, ends the 2022-23 season with a record of 20-7, All-America honors and a second-place finish at the NCAA DII National Championship tournament.
