Apple Valley, MN – Eastview High School is proud to announce the appointment of Melissa Jacobs as a new coach of the wrestling team. A trailblazer in her own right, Melissa is set to make history as the first female wrestling coach in the school’s storied sports legacy. With a remarkable background as both an accomplished wrestler and experienced coach, Melissa is poised to lead the team to new heights.
Born to Chuck and Sarah Jacobs, Melissa brings a strong foundation of values and determination to her coaching role. She will graduate from Augsburg University with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Religion and Management Information Systems.
Melissa’s wrestling journey is marked by impressive achievements:
College & Freestyle Wrestling:
- 5 years of collegiate wrestling experience at Augsburg University and Umpqua Community College in Oregon. She was a national qualifier and she earned 2nd Place at the Oregon College Women’s State Championship.
- Achieved an eighth-place finish at the 2019 US Open and took first place at the Last Chance Qualifier.
High School Highlights:
- A standout member of Scott West Wrestling in high school, where she became a Three-time Girls High School State Wrestling Champion.
- A versatile athlete, she was also a member of the high school mountain bike team and the Minnesota Storm National Wrestling Team.
- Demonstrated her prowess in mountain biking by becoming the 2017 Single Speed Mountain Bike State Champion.
Melissa’s passion for the sport of wrestling, combined with her extensive wrestling experience and coaching know-how, is sure to inspire and uplift the Eastview High School wrestling team. The Eastview community eagerly anticipates the upcoming wrestling season with Melissa leading the girls wrestling team members.
