Former Gophers in Action This Weekend

Pat Smith Competes at Worlds, while Mitch McKee Headlines LFA168

MINNEAPOLIS – A pair of former Minnesota wrestlers are in action starting Friday as they look to showcase their respective talents to the world.

Pat Smith begins competition Friday at the 2023 World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

Competing in Greco-Roman at 72 kg for Minnesota Storm, Smith is set to open with a matchup against No. 13 Kamil Czarnecki of Poland. A victory would set up a bout with No. 5 Ibragim Magomadov of Kazakhstan.

Ranked 14th in the world, Smith qualified for the Worlds for the fourth time in his career back in June with a win at Final X.

Meanwhile in Minnesota, Mitch McKee is scheduled to headline LFA 168 Friday night at Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake.

Competing in his home state, McKee will be taking on fellow Minnesotan Sean McPadden in a bantamweight bout. McKee is looking to stay undefeated in his MMA career as he enters with a 4-0 record.

LFA 168 starts at 8 p.m. CT and can be streamed on UFCFightPass.com with a subscription.
