Bison Face Rebuilding Year After Departure of Six Wrestlers

New North Dakota State Coach Obenson Blanc Ready to Prove Himself

By Matt Krumrie

Few teams have gone through as much offseason change as the North Dakota State University Bison.

Head coach Roger Kish left NDSU after 12 seasons to become head coach at Big 12 rival Oklahoma. Replacing Kish is Obenson Blanc. Blanc served the last four seasons on the coaching staff at NDSU, including the last two as associate head coach.

Blanc takes over a team that went 11-3 overall and 6-2 in the Big 12 Conference last season. The Bison also earned their highest ranking in school history at No. 15 in the NWCA Coaches Poll and No. 12 in the Intermat rankings before finishing 24th at the 2023 NCAA national championships.
