MOORHEAD, Minn. — MSU Moorhead wrestling will host the annual Dragon Open inside Nemzek Fieldhouse on Sunday, December 3. Wrestling is set to begin at 10 a.m. with 28 teams slated to compete at the open.
The Dragons have not competed since November 18 at the Younes Hospitality Open hosted by Nebraska-Kearney. MSUM had four place winners at the open, headlined by Will Price’s fourth place finish at 184 pounds. Price leads the Dragons with 12 total wins this season and is tied for the team-lead with six pinfall victories. Isaiah Huus placed at the Younes Hospitality Open at 197 pounds, moving his win total to nine in 2023-24. Freshmen Cade Rose (149 pounds) and Anthony Sykora (179 pounds) were the other place winners for MSUM. Sykora has 10 wins on the year with five pinfall victories.
Heavyweight Quade Peterson has continued to build on his early success, earning six wins this season with all of them coming by fall. Jacob Reinardy also had a strong turnout at the Younes Hospitality Open, going 5-1 on the day as Reinardy has pinned six opponents so far this season. Cody Wienen has tallied 11 victories so far in 2023-24 with three of them coming at the Nebraska-Kearney-hosted event. Wienen has three pinfall victories this season.
MSUM has only competed in one dual so far this season, a 38-10 win over Jamestown on November 16. In that dual, MSUM was paced by pins from Hunter Hayes (141 pounds), Rose (165 pounds) and Peterson (heavyweight). The Dragons claimed eight of ten weight classes in the dual.
