MINNEAPOLIS — In a match that took just 36 minutes to complete, the Augsburg University men’s wrestling team claimed its third shutout victory of the season, a 55-0 dual meet triumph over the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Friday night at Si Melby Hall.

Thanks to six forfeits by the visiting Titans, Augsburg clinched the dual-meet victory without having to wrestle a single bout. In the four varsity bouts wrestled, Augsburg claimed a pin, two technical falls and a decision, outscoring the Titans by a 51-4 margin, claiming eight takedowns and seven near-falls to just four escapes for the visitors. Augsburg has now outscored UW-Oshkosh by a 172-29 team margin in its four all-time victories, dating to the 1991-92 season.

Charlie Stuhl (JR, Ellsworth, Wis./Ellsworth HS), the No. 3-ranked 149-pounder in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national rankings, improved to 18-3 on the season with his 12th bonus-point win (three pins, four technical falls, five major decisions), a 4:50 pin of JoJo Mendoza. Stuhl used three takedowns and a four-point near-fall to build 13-2 lead before claiming the pin late in the second period.

Top-ranked 184-pounder Bentley Schwanebeck-Ostermann (SR, Loyal, Wis./Marshfield HS) extended his winning streak to 19 straight matches, moving to 22-1 on the season with a 19-1, 5:00 technical fall of Michael Loger. Schwanebeck-Ostermann had three takedowns and a pair of four-point near-falls to score his 20th bonus-point win (five pins, eight technical falls, seven major decisions) of the season.

Parker Venz (JR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS), ranked No. 4 nationally at 197 pounds, used a takedown, two 4-point near-falls and two 2-point near-falls to quickly dispatch Matt Hanke in just 2:28, improving to 15-4 on the year with his 14th bonus-point victory (10 pins, three technical falls, one major decision).

Jagger Schack (JR, Osseo, Minn./Osseo HS), making his first varsity start of the season at 285, closed the formal portion of the match with a 4-1 victory over Guyon Cyprian Jr., improving to 19-6 on the season.

In a bonus match, Hunter Gorecki (JR, Foley, Minn./Foley HS) improved to 9-10 with his fourth pin of the campaign, a 1:06 win over Brodie Driessen.

Augsburg is ranked No. 1 in the NWCA’s team tournament national rankings and No. 2 in the NWCA’s team dual-meet national rankings.
