Dragons Wrap Up Dual Season at Marauders, Hosting Beavers

MOORHEAD, Minn. — MSU Moorhead wrestling will conclude its 2023-24 dual season with a road battle against Mary on Thursday, February 15, beginning at 7 p.m. The Dragons will then close the regular season hosting Minot State on Sunday at 4 p.m.

For the Dragons, it will be a battle against a pair of ranked opponents as Mary is currently slotted 13th in the NWCA Coaches’ Poll, with Minot State receiving votes in the same rankings.

MSUM last dueled on Friday, February 9, in a 27-17 loss to crosstown rival Concordia College. The Dragons won four matches in the dual as Airin Spell would kick off the team scoring with a major decision win at heavyweight. MSUM would go on to win the final three matches of the dual as Hunter Hayes earned a win by major decision at 141 pounds. Gunnar Mogen would then put in a stirring performance to earn a third-period pin on his Cobber foe. Cody Wienen would conclude the dual with a decision victory at 157 pounds.

The Dragon win leader so far this season is 197-pounder Isaiah Huus, who has tallied 20 victories so far this season with a team-best eight pins and five major decisions. Huus is currently battling a knee ailment that will keep him out of action this week in hopes of returning for the NCAA Super Region V tournament on March 2. Redshirt freshman 184-pounder Will Price is tied with Huus for the team lead in pins with eight as well. Hunter Heim leads MSUM with three technical falls this season at 125 pounds.
