Minnesota State Travels to No. 5 UW-Parkside

Minnesota State travels to Kenosha, Wis. tomorrow, Feb. 23rd, to face the Rangers at 7:00 p.m. for their last regular season dual.

About UW-Parkside: The No. 5 Rangers are currently 9-1 overall and 7-1 in the NSIC, with their only loss to St. Cloud State (6-27). UW-Parkside is coached by Nick Becker. Throughout his two years with the Rangers, he’s amassed a 14-5 record, along with a third-place finish at NCAA II Regionals. UW-Parkside also has six ranked wrestlers, including No. 3 Shane Corrigan (125) and No. 3 Cayden Henschel (141).

Last Time Out: The Mavericks hosted Sioux Falls and Northern State this past weekend, resulting in two wins for MSU, 39-7 and 23-17, respectively. With these wins, the Mavericks improve to a 7-5 overall record, 4-4 NSIC.

The Makovsky File: In his 31st year with Minnesota State, head coach Jim Makovsky holds an impressive 308-139-3 career record, the most in program history. Makovsky has coached 12 Individual National Champions and 96 NCAA All-Americans and has been inducted into the NCAA DII Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame.

National Appearances: Minnesota State made an appearance on the podium in the 2022-23 season with senior Darrell Mason, at 285 lb., finishing third. Mason held a 17-4 record, became a two-time NCAA All-American, and earned the Minnesota State Senior Male Athlete of the Year Honor. Mason was also the national champion at 285 lb. his junior year with a perfect 22-0 record.
