NCAA Wrestling Awards Standings Update

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA has released updated standings for the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Awards, which will be awarded in March at the respective Division I, II, and III Wrestling Championships.

The inaugural NCAA Wrestling Awards were presented at the 2012 wrestling championships. The three awards, given in each division, honor the Most Dominant Wrestler and the student-athletes who have accumulated the most falls and technical falls throughout the regular and postseasons.

For results to be counted for the awards, they must come against opponents in the same division (i.e., Division II vs. Division II). Ties in the falls and tech falls categories are broken based on the aggregate time.

This week features the second standings of the Most Dominant Wrestler award, which features a 16-match minimum to qualify for the standings.

The Most Dominant Wrestler standings are calculated by adding the total number of team points awarded through match results and dividing that number by the total number of matches wrestled. Points per match are awarded as follows.

  • Fall, forfeit, injury default, or DQ = 6 points (-6 points for a loss)
  • Tech falls = 5 points (-5 points for a loss)
  • Major decision = 4 points (-4 points for a loss)
  • Decision = 3 points (-3 points for a loss)

In Division I, Air Force heavyweight Wyatt Hendrickson, took over the top spot for Most Dominant Wrestler with an average of 5.47 points per match. Hendrickson also leads the nation in falls for the second straight week with 13. Last week’s most dominant leader, Trent Hidlay from North Carolina State, holds onto second at 4.84.

In Division II, the top five remain the same. Scott Joll of UNC Pembroke remains in first place with 5.37 points per match.

In Division III, Joe Pins from Wartburg and Michael Petrella from Baldwin Wallace are tied at 5.21 points. Wartburg’s 197-pound Massoma Endene remains a close third at 5.17.

Lander’s Anthony Yacovetti continues his rise to the top of the Division II falls lead picking up two this week for a total of 13. Pittsburgh-Johnstown’s heavyweight Isaiah Vance trails by one.

Each of the top three falls leaders in Division III picked up one fall this week to keep the same order for the third straight week. Jake Jones from Ithaca leads with 21, while Case Western Reserve’s Mitchell Arch and Trinity (Connecticut) heavyweight Timothy Glynn each have 20.

In Division I tech falls, Lock Haven’s Wyatt Henson and Lehigh’s Michael Beard remain tied at the top for the second week in a row. Each picked up one this week for a season total of 13.

In Division II, Tiffin’s 125-pound Max Shore leads for the third week in a row with 12 tech falls in 52:50.

Alvernia’s Gavin Hollingsworth continues to dominate Division III tech falls for the fourth consecutive week. The 174-pounder has a four tech fall lead with 19 in 86:08.
