Vikings climb to No. 3, Seven Ranked in Latest NWCA Poll

MANHEIM, Pa. – The Augustana wrestling team will head into the NCAA Super Regionals at No. 3 in the NWCA Division II Poll, while seven different individuals find themselves in the top 10. The poll was released Monday afternoon.

The Vikings totaled 67 points in the poll and are one of four NSIC teams in the top 25 and three in the top five. Central Oklahoma leads the way with 87 points, followed by Lander, the Vikings, St. Cloud State, and UW-Parkside.

Jaxson Rohman slots in at No. 2 at 125 pounds. The junior from Trimont, Minn., is 17-3 on the year and currently tied for second in program history with eight major decisions on the season. Into the postseason, Rohman looks to improve on an NCAA Division II runner-up finish from last season.

Cade Mueller is ranked No. 4 at 184. The junior from Waconia, Minn., has gone 12-4 throughout the year, including 6-1 in NSIC duals. Mueller was a national qualifier a season ago and has his eyes on NCAA All-America honors.

Looking to become a two-time All-American in his final season is Hunter Burnett, the 141-pounder who ranks No. 5 in the country. A three-time national qualifier, Burnett is 10-1 on the year, with his only blemish coming in the NWCA National Duals.

Looking for his first national qualification is Max Ramberg, the No. 6 ranked wrestler at 197 pounds. The Baldwin, Wis., native is the farthest thing from a sophomore slump, holding a 19-7 record that includes 11 tech falls, one away from tying the single-season program record. That number also puts him in the top five nationally.

Two Vikings are ranked seventh at their respective weight classes, starting with Cael Larson at 149 pounds. The sophomore from Piedmont, S.D., has gone 11-6, including a pair of ranked wins, in one of the tougher weight classes in all of the NSIC.

Also ranked No. 7 is Connor Simmonds at 157 pounds. The sophomore from Truman, Minn., has been a steady presence throughout the year, going 12-3 this season, including 5-2 in NSIC duals.

Rounding out the individuals is Tyler Wagener, who finds himself at No. 8 at 165. Wagener has gone 9-4 in his senior season and is 5-2 in NSIC duals. The Waconia, Minn., native will look to become a two-time national qualifier next weekend.
