MINNEAPOLIS — Augsburg University’s three women’s wrestling seniors each recorded wins in their final home matches of their careers in the No. 14-ranked Auggies’ 29-17 dual-meet loss to the No. 18-ranked University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Sunday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

Augsburg ranked No. 14 in the latest NWCA women’s national rankings for NCAA teams, scored three victories on the mat and one by forfeit, while No. 18-ranked UW-Stevens Point collected four forfeits and two wins on the mat.

At 170 pounds, Augsburg’s Madison Horn (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) improved to 11-8 on the season with her seventh pin of the season, a 4:22 pin of Tabitha Breitrick. Tied 2-2 entering the second period, Horn converted a four-point feet-to-danger throw into the pin, the 12th of her collegiate career. She is now 27-37 in her Auggie career.

Autumn Flanigan (SR, Troy, Mo./Troy Buchanan HS) built an 8-4 lead after one period, on three takedowns and a two-point exposure, in her match at 143 pounds against Brooke Scheunemann, then ended the match 54 seconds into the second period on a four-point feet-to-danger throw and a two-point takedown, scoring a 14-4 technical fall. Flanigan is now 10-5 on the season and 55-31 in her Augsburg career.

Melissa Jacobs (SR, Belle Plaine, Minn./Belle Plaine HS) built an 8-0 lead in the first period on the strength of three takedowns and two pushouts, and held off Riley Ensing in a scoreless second period for the win at 191 pounds, improving to 11-11 on the season and 44-53 in her college career.

No. 8-ranked 136-pounder Amor Tuttle needed just 1:14 for a 10-0 technical fall win for the Pointers over Mikalah Konz with a takedown, two 2-point exposures, and a four-point feet-to-danger throw.

Makenna Hanke used four takedowns and an exposure to claim a 10-0, 3:35 technical fall win over Augsburg’s Adelynn Flaschberger at 130 pounds. In a bonus match, 123-pounder Brianna Derouin scored a 2:29 pin of Flaschberger.

Augsburg attempts to qualify wrestlers to the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships at the NCWWC Region 4 tournament, to be held on Sunday, Feb. 19 at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
