Kruse sets new single-season most falls record

Totino-Grace senior Cy Kruse set a new Minnesota high school wrestling record for 51 total falls in a single season. The previous record for total falls in one year was held by Ryder Rogotzke of Stillwater with 45 pins in 2022-23, followed by Tyler Lehmann of Apple Valley with 44 in 2008-09.

Kruse pinned his way to the Class AA 215-pound title on March 2nd, with falls over all seven of his opponents during the 3-day team and individual tournaments.

Kruse’s win-loss record during his junior/senior seasons was 102-2. He won three national tournaments in 2023, including the NHSCA National Tournament, the USA Wrestling Folkstyle National Tournament, and the Journeymen National Tournament.

Kruse has committed to Cornell University and is projected to wrestle at heavyweight for the Big Red beginning in 2024. He carries a 4.2 Grade Point Average.
