Yellowjackets earn NJCAA title

Three RCTC wrestlers finished as All-Americans

Rochester Community and Technical College was the highest-placing non-scholarship (D3) team at the 2024 NJCAA National Championships, which took place last Saturday in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

The Yellowjackets finished eighth out of 86 total teams competing.

It’s RCTC’s fourth non-scholarship NJCAA national title in five years and sixth national championship in wrestling.

Three RCTC wrestlers finished as All-Americans by placing top-eight. Leo Tukhlynovych (Shakopee grad) placed third at 165 pounds for The Yellowjackets. Cohen Wiste (Southland grad) placed fourth at 149 pounds, and Antony Tuttle (Stillwater grad) finished in fifth place at 184 pounds.

Other Yellowjackets competing at the NJCAA National Championships were Keiichi Kong (Apple Valley grad) at 125 pounds, Tyson Wilson at 133 pounds, Hunter Gartmann at 141 pounds, Gavin Gust (Dover-Eyota grad) at 157 pounds, Lucas Kritzeck (Park Rapids grad) at 174 pounds, and Martin Prieto (Plainview-Elgin-Millville grad) at 197 pounds.

RCTC Coach Andy Hackenmueller was named NJCAA Division III Coach of the Year.
