Augsburg has 20 NWCA Scholar All-Americans, 6th in D-III academic national standings

MINNEAPOLIS — Claiming a school-record 20 individual Scholar All-Americans, the most among NCAA Division III teams nationally, the 2024 NCAA Division III national champion Augsburg University men’s wrestling team finished in sixth place in the 2023-24 National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III academic team race, with a team grade-point average of 3.725, it was announced recently. All 10 NCAA Division III national tournament qualifiers for the Auggies earned Scholar All-American honors this season.

Twenty Auggies were named NWCA Division III Scholar All-Americans:

Nick Alexander (FY, Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna HS), a finance major with a 4.00 grade-point average. He finished 24-9 this season.

Cole Becker (SO, Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS), a finance major with a 3.91 GPA. A two-time Scholar All-American, he finished 27-5 this season and is 60-10 in his career.

Seth Goetzinger (JR, Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield HS), a business management major with a 3.82 GPA. A three-time Scholar All-American, he finished 30-6 this season and is 72-21 in his career. He earned All-American honors for the second time with a seventh-place national tournament finish at 174 pounds this season.

Blake Jagodzinske (JR, Sherburn, Minn./Martin County West HS), a finance major with a 4.00 GPA. A three-time Scholar All-American, he finished 20-8 this season and is 64-17 in his college career. He earned All-American honors with a fifth-place national tournament finish at 157 pounds this season, and was also named the NCAA Division III Elite 90 honoree for men’s wrestling, with the highest GPA among national tournament competitors.

Lucas Jagodzinske (SO, Sherburn, Minn./Martin County West HS), a finance major with a 4.00 GPA. A two-time Scholar All-American, he finished 29-8 this season and is 59-16 in his career.

Wyatt Kaczrowski (JR, Seymour, Wis./Seymour HS), a business management major with a 3.51 GPA. He finished 27-17 this year and is 71-43 in his career. He was a national tournament qualifier at 125 pounds this season.

Tyler Kim (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS), a Master of Arts in Leadership student with a 3.67 GPA. A four-time Scholar All-American, he finished 30-2 this season and is 134-24 in his career. He earned All-American honors for the fourth time in his career, winning the national title at 285 pounds this season.

Karsen Otis (FY, Combined Locks, Wis./Kimberly HS), an exercise science major with a 3.33 GPA. He finished 29-5 this season.

Ian Radintz (FY, Glenwood City, Wis./Glenwood City HS), a finance major with a 3.91 GPA. He finished 17-3 this season.

Tyler Raway (JR, Wyoming, Minn./Forest Lake HS), a business management major with a 3.70 GPA. He finished 22-5 this season and is 40-17 in his career.

Kaden Reetz (SR, Madison, Wis./Madison Memorial HS), a business administration and economics major. He finished 28-8 this season and is 70-25 in his career.

Jagger Schack (JR, Osseo, Minn./Osseo HS), an exercise science major with a 3.66 GPA. He finished 19-8 this season and is 42-27 in his career.

Bentley Schwanebeck-Ostermann (SR, Loyal, Wis./Marshfield HS), a business management major. He finished 33-1 this season and is 115-29 in his career. He earned All-American honors for the fourth time in his career, winning the national title at 184 pounds this season.

Carter Sorenson (JR, Lengby, Minn./Fosston HS), a business management major with a 3.92 GPA. A three-time Scholar All-American, he finished 17-6 this season and is 52-15 in his career.

Derek Steele (JR, Winthrop, Minn./Sibley East HS), a business management major with a 3.25 GPA. A three-time Scholar All-American, he finished 17-3 this season and is 50-20 in his career.

Charlie Stuhl (JR, Ellsworth, Wis./Ellsworth HS), a finance and accounting major with a 3.98 GPA. A four-time Scholar All-American, he finished 25-6 this season and is 92-27 in his career. An All-American, he was a national tournament qualifier at 149 pounds this season.

Sam Stuhl (SR, Ellsworth, Wis./Ellsworth HS), a math education major with a 3.28 GPA. A two-time Scholar All-American, he finished 26-6 this season and is 83-16 in his Augsburg career, and 97-28 in his college career. An All-American and 2023 national champion, he was a national tournament qualifier at 141 pounds this season.

Chance Suddeth (FY, Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton HS), a health and physical education major with a 3.42 GPA. He finished 21-10 this season. He was a national tournament qualifier at 133 pounds this season.

Parker Venz (JR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS), a health and physical education major with a 3.29 GPA. A two-time Scholar All-American, he finished 23-8 this season and is 69-28 in his career. He earned All-American honors with a seventh-place finish at 197 pounds this season.

Cooper Willis (SO, Kansasville, Wis./Union Grove HS), a finance major with a 3.40 GPA. He finished 36-4 this season and is 68-13 in his career. He earned All-American honors with a fifth-place finish at 165 pounds this season.

Since 1983, Augsburg has produced 222 NWCA Scholar All-Americans. Augsburg has had 199 student-athletes honored since 1997. The 2023-24 campaign marks the fifth time in program history, and third in a row, in which the Auggies have had 10 or more Scholar All-Americans. Since 1998, Augsburg has finished among the top 15 teams in the academic national listing 22 times, winning the academic national title three times.

Under fifth-year head coach Tony Valek, Augsburg won the NCAA Division III national championship for the 15th time in school history and second year in a row in 2023-24, earning six All-Americans among its 10 national tournament qualifiers. The Auggies finished 11-1 in dual meets and also won the NCAA Division III Upper Midwest Regional title this season.
