Mauseth and Morgan recognized as MWCA Head Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year

The Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association annually recognizes a MWCA Head Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year. This year, the MWCA is excited to announce Matt Mauseth of Chatfield as Head Coach of the Year and Marty Morgan of Moundsview as Assistant Coach of the Year.

Coach Mauseth guided Chatfield to the Class A State Dual Championship with a 21-1 dual meet record for the year. The Gophers had an excellent season and were seen as one of the top teams in the state of Minnesota, regardless of class. Chatfield dominated the Class A State Dual Tournament field with an average margin of victory of 39 points in their three duals. As a result of the successful season, Mauseth was voted by his peers as the Class A Coach of the Year.

Moundsview Head Coach Dan Engebretson nominated Coach Marty Morgan. Morgan helped guide the Mustangs to a Class AAA Dual Runner-up finish.

“Marty is a pillar of MN wrestling. He is a great teacher and a great motivator. He is always studying, still learning, and eager to pass this knowledge on.”

-Coach Engebretson

Coach Mauseth and Coach Morgan will be recognized at the Hall of Fame Banquet in Benson on May 4th.
