MWCA/The Guillotine 2024 Girls Academic All-State Wrestlers

Congratulations to the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association and The Guillotine High School Girls Academic All-State honorees for 2024. Thanks to the coaches, administrators, and parents for helping to recognize these exceptional student-athletes.

Forty-three wrestlers, representing 23 teams, were submitted this season. Points were tallied based on cumulative high school GPA, current season state tournament placement, and current season section tournament placement.

Everyone on the first team placed sixth or higher at state this year, including seven champions and three runners-up. First team members have an average GPA of 3.79.

Four honorees have a perfect 4.0 GPA: Tori Bahr of Bemidji, Nora Houglum of Mora, Claire Kvant of St. Michael-Albertville, and Ayden Schauer of Grand Rapids.

Three nominees finished as undefeated 2024 state champions: Camryn Kenning of St. Cloud Tech, Skylar Little Soldier of Hastings, and Lanna Walter of Sauk Centre-Melrose

Repeat Guillotine first-team members are Grace Alagbo of Apple Valley, Camryn Kenning of St. Cloud Tech, Riley Myers of Eastview, Diann Smith of GMLOS, Skylar Little Soldier of Hastings, and Gloriann Vigniavo of Apple Valley.

First Team

Apple Valley Grace Alagbo

Grace Alagbo, 170 pounds
Apple Valley, 12th

Grace is a two-time state champion and a three-time finalist. She won the 170-pound title this year, the 145-pound title as a sophomore, and was runner-up at 152 pounds as a junior. Her GPA is 3.68. Honors and achievements include 2023 Dan Gable Donnybrook runner-up, two-time Athena Invite champion, 2023 Champlin Park Holiday Tournament champion, three-time Pine Island champion, two-time South Suburban All-Conference, 2023 MWCA/The Guillotine Academic All-State First Team, three-time section champion, 2024 Apple Valley HS Athena Award Winner, and 2024 NWCA Scholar All-American Award. Future plans are to attend Ursinus College in Pennsylvania and study pre-law. Grace’s parents are Kodjo Alagbo and Pyalo Ndadia, and her coach is Josh Barlage.


Anoka Alley Altringer

Alley Altringer, 142 pounds
Anoka, 12th

Alley is a state finalist and three-time placewinner. She was the 142-pound runner-up this year. Alley placed third at 138 pounds as a junior and third at 132 pounds as a sophomore. Her GPA is 3.48. Honors and achievements include 2023 MWCA/The Guillotine Academic All-State Second Team. Future plans are to wrestle in college. Alley’s parents are Matt and Nicole, and her coach is Todd Springer.


Thief River Falls Brianna Berg

Brianna Berg, 142 pounds
Thief River Falls, 12th

Brianna is a one-time state placewinner. She was the 142-pound fourth-place finisher in 2024 as a senior. Her GPA is 3.79. Honors and achievements include Melrose Invite champion, Buffalo Invite champion, Osakis Champion, wrestling team captain, lettered in wrestling twice, swimming team captain, lettered in swimming six times, Swimming state entrant, two-time Math League state entrant, lettered in track and field twice, lettered in Knowledge Bowl twice and lettered in student council twice. Brianna is also a member of the National Honor Society. Future plans are to go to Northland Community and Technical College to get her registered nursing degree. She is still deciding on whether to wrestle there. Brianna is currently learning how to wrestle freestyle and Greco-Roman. She plans to work part-time while going to college at a local nursing home or Sanford Center. After working for a while, she plans on going back to school to become a nurse anesthetist. Brianna’s parents are Chad and Becky, and her coach is Kenny Geiser.


Bemidji Kylie Donat

Kylie Donat, 142 pounds
Bemidji, 12th

Kylie is a state champion and two-time finalist. She won the 142-pound title this year and was runner-up at 132 pounds as a sophomore. She was out with an injury her junior year. Her GPA is 3.8. Honors and achievements include two-time section champion, 2024 Pine Island Tournament champion, and 2023 Rumble on the Red runner-up. Future plans are to learn how to become a digital marketer. She is also interested in getting into the world of renovating homes. Kylie’s parents are Mitch and Sara, and her coach is Rance Bahr.


Bertha Hewitt Verndale Parkers Prairie Abby Ervasti

Abby Ervasti, 170 pounds
Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie, 12th

Abby is a state champion and three-time finalist. She won the 138-pound title in 2023 as a junior and was runner-up at 170 pounds as a senior and at 145 pounds as a sophomore. Her GPA is 3.93. Honors and achievements include three-time BHVPP Girls MVP, three-time section champion, two-time team most near fall points, two-time team most takedowns, two-time All For One-One For All, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes member. Future plans are to attend the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota, major in biology, and be a zoologist or social worker and coach wrestling. Abby’s parents are Jason and Carol, and her coach is Bill Wagner.


Mora Nora Houglum

Nora Houglum, 130 pounds
Mora, 12th

Nora is a three-time state placewinner. She was the 130-pound sixth-place finisher this year as a senior. Nora placed sixth at 120 pounds as a junior and fourth at 120 pounds as a sophomore. Her GPA is 4.0. Honors and achievements include – Wrestling: three-time letter winner, two-time Team MVP, Team Hardest Worker, two-year team captain, and three-time section runner-up. Academic: High Honors 9-12 and Minnesota Honor Society member. Future plans are to wrestle at the University of Jamestown and major in civil or mechanical engineering. Nora’s parents are Ty and Jenny, and her coach is Thomas Youngblom.


Saint Cloud Tech Camryn Kenning

Camryn Kenning, 235 pounds
St. Cloud Tech, 12th

Camryn is a two-time state champion. She won the 235-pound title this year as a senior and the 235-pound title as a junior. Her GPA is 3.85. Honors and achievements include 2023 Rogers Holiday Matness Tournament champion, two-time section champion, undefeated in Girls competition, and 2023 MWCA/The Guillotine Academic All-State First Team. Future plans are to attend the University of Minnesota for mechanical engineering. Camryn’s parents are Christine and Tony, and her coaches are Bob Boeck and Aarin Frederiksen.


St Michael Albertville Claire Kvant

Claire Kvant, 136 pounds
St. Michael-Albertville, 11th

Claire is a two-time state placewinner. She was the 136-pound fifth-place finisher this year as a junior. Claire placed third at 126 pounds as a sophomore. Her GPA is 4.0. Honors and achievements include two-year letter winner in track, wrestling, and soccer. Captain of the soccer team that participated in two state tournaments, captain of the track team, voted hardest worker of the track team, all-state in 2023 for track in relay, ExCel Award winner, Student of the Year, eight-time Spotlight on Scholarship winner, member of student council, student ambassador, tutor, FCA captain, and school Courtesy and Respect Award winner Future plans are to attend college. Claire’s parents are Jeff and Ann, and her coach is Dan Lefebvre.


Eastview Riley Myers

Riley Myers, 130 pounds
Eastview, 12th

Riley is a two-time state champion and a three-time finalist. She won the 130-pound title this year, the 145-pound title as a sophomore, and was runner-up at 138 pounds as a junior. Her GPA is 3.62. Honors and achievements include 2023 Bi-State Classic champion, 2023 Hopkins Athena Tournament runner-up, two-time all-conference, team captain, Athena Award, Section Academic Recognition, and 2023 MWCA/The Guillotine Academic All-State First Team. Future plans are to get into coaching. Riley’s parents are Loren and Kristi, and her coach is Nick Fornicoia.


Grand Rapids Ayden Schauer

Ayden Schauer, 235 pounds
Grand Rapids, 12th

Ayden is a one-time state placewinner. She was the 235-pound fourth-place finisher in 2024 as a senior. Her GPA is 4.0. Honors and achievements include Edina Tournament champion, Grand Rapids Holiday Tournament champion, Blue Ox Tournament champion, Paul Bunyan Tournament champion, Rock Ridge Tournament champion, Skip Nalan Tournament champion, four-time Dean’s List PSEO, marching band second-place at state, ten years in theater at the Reif Performing Arts Center, and sang the National Anthem at multiple events. Future plans are to attend Concordia College in Moorhead with the help of a music scholarship. She plans to major in communications or theater arts. Ayden’s parents are Mike and Mary, and she is coached by her father.


Gmlos Diann Smith

Diann Smith, 136 pounds
GMLOS, 12th

Diann is a three-time state finalist. She was the 136-pound runner-up this year as a senior, the 138-pound runner-up as a junior, and the 138-pound runner-up as a sophomore. Her GPA is 3.69. Honors and achievements include three-time letter winner in wrestling, Section 1 Senior Girl Wrestler of the Year, Southland MSHSL Triple ”A” Award nominee, 2023 MWCA/The Guillotine Academic All-State First Team, and she played a big part in helping start the GMLOS girls wrestling program. Future plans are to wrestle for Sioux Falls University, study music education, and go on to teach choir and coach girls wrestling. Diann’s parents are Randy and Deidre, and she is coached by her father.


Hastings Skylar Little Soldier

Skylar Little Soldier, 148 pounds
Hastings, 12th

Skylar is a three-time state champion. She won the 148-pound title this year, the 145-pound title as a junior, and the 132-pound title as a sophomore. Her GPA is 3.77. Honors and achievements include Hopkins Athena Invite champion, two-time Fargo champion, five-time Fargo All-American, and 2023 MWCA/The Guillotine Academic All-State First Team. Future plans are to attend Grand Valley State University, where she will continue to wrestle, and major in pre-pharmacy. Skylar’s parents are Nate and Chulsie, and her coach is Tim Haneberg.


St Michael Albertville Maggie Steele

Maggie Steele, 170 pounds
St. Michael-Albertville, 12th

Maggie is a two-time state qualifier and one-time placewinner. She was the 170-pound fourth-place finisher in 2024 as a senior and a state qualifier at 185-pounds as a junior. Her GPA is 3.98. Honors and achievements include two-year letter winner in wrestling, Spotlight on Scholarship winner in tennis/wrestling/lacrosse, state participant in Business Professionals of America, and school Courtesy and Respect Award winner. Maggie is also a member of the National Honor Society. Future plans are to complete Air National Guard training and attend college. Maggie’s parents are Pat and Kari, and her coach is Dan Lefebvre.


Apple Valley Gloriann Vigniavo

Gloriann is a state champion and two-time placewinner. She won the 190-pound title this year and was third at 185 pounds as a junior. Her GPA is 3.35. Honors and achievements include two-time Athena Invite champion, 2023 The Clash champion, 2023 Rogers Holiday Tournament champion, 2023 Champlin Park Holiday Tournament champion, 2023 Pine Island runner-up, two-time South Suburban All-Conference, 2023 MWCA/The Guillotine Academic All-State First Team, and two-time section champion. Future plans are undecided. Gloriann’s parents are Kodjovi and Kokoe, and her coach is Josh Barlage.


Sauk Centre Melrose Lanna Walter

Lanna is a state champion and three-time placewinner. She won the 124-pound title this year as a senior. Lanna placed third at 120 pounds as a junior and third at 120 pounds as a sophomore. Her GPA is 3.95. Honors and achievements include three-time section champion, Section 8AA Academic All-Star in 2023 and 2024, team captain, all-conference softball player, 2023 Dairy Princess, and 4H and FFA member throughout high school. Future plans are to wrestle for the University of Sioux Falls. Lanna’s parents are Dave and Cathy, and her coach is Vaugh Glasener.
