Ty Eustice Named Assistant Wrestling Coach at the Naval Academy

ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Navy head wrestling coach Cary Kolat announced today that Ty Eustice has joined his staff as an assistant coach. Eustice comes to Navy from Davidson, where he has served as the head assistant coach since 2021.

“I am confident that Ty Eustice’s commitment and desire will help drive our team to a new level of achievement,” said Kolat. “His coaching will undoubtedly strengthen our program.”

“I’m honored and excited for this opportunity to work with the staff and the young men at the Naval Academy,” said Eustice. “Cary Kolat is a legend in the sport of wrestling and he has done a great job of developing the Naval Academy program and staff and I can’t thank him enough for giving me this opportunity. I’m looking forward to getting to know our athletes and helping them as they strive to be great.”

Prior to coaching at Davidson, Eustice was an assistant coach at Minnesota State in Mankato, Minn., from 2017-21. While at Minnesota State, Eustice coached two NCAA finalists, seven All-Americans and 15 national qualifiers. Minnesota State was 24-6 over his final three seasons and finished 10th at the NCAA Championship in both 2018 and 2021.

Eustice served as the head wrestling coach at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2010 and 2011 where he coached six All-Americans, including two-time national champion Victor DeJesus. His teams finished seventh and 10th at the national tournament.

Eustice started his coaching career in 2009 as an assistant coach at Cornell College in Iowa.

The Blue Earth, Minn. native wrestled collegiately at the University of Iowa, where he was a two-time All-American and a four-time NCAA Qualifier. In 2006, the two-time team captain was an NCAA Finalist. He was also a member of the Big Ten Championship team in 2004.

Eustice also earned the distinction of Cadet, Junior and FILA Junior National Freestyle All-American. Before wrestling collegiately, Eustice was also a four-time high school state champion in Minnesota.

Eustice earned his BA from the University of Iowa in 2006 and his MA from MSU Mankato in 2008.
