WESTFIELD, Ind. — The Minnesota Junior women’s wrestling team compiled a 3-5 record at the 2025 Women’s National Duals, finishing seventh in the Red/Blue pool.
Minnesota’s tournament began in Pool C preliminary competition, where the team struggled against top competition. Tennessee defeated Minnesota 50-26 in the quarterfinals, sending the Gophers into the consolation bracket competition.
The team rebounded with a 43-33 victory over Pennsylvania Red in the consolation sub-semifinals, but Texas Blue dashed Minnesota’s hopes of advancing with a decisive 53-24 win in the consolation semifinals. Georgia then defeated Minnesota 49-28 in the fifth-place match, relegating the team to the Red/Blue bracket for day two competition.
In Red/Blue pool action on Friday, Minnesota faced three more challenging opponents. Iowa dominated Minnesota 55-20 in the first championship round, followed by a 44-27 loss to South Dakota Gold in round two.
Minnesota salvaged a victory in round three, defeating Utah 42-32 to avoid finishing winless in pool competition. Minnesota closed out the tournament with a convincing 48-20 victory over New York in the seventh-place match.
Two Minnesota wrestlers earned All-Tournament Team recognition by going undefeated with at least five victories during the competition at Grand Park Event Center. Caley Graber led Minnesota’s individual success with a perfect 7-0 record at 120 pounds. Graber dominated her weight class throughout both days of competition, providing consistent points for Minnesota across multiple dual meets. At 140 pounds, Nora Akpan compiled a 6-0 record to earn her spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Minnesota’s 3-5 showing placed them in the middle tier of the 36 teams competing across all divisions. The Red/Blue pool finish represented the third tier of competition, behind the Gold/Silver bracket that determined the tournament’s top eight teams and the Bronze/Copper pool.
Michigan Red captured the Junior Women’s National Duals championship with a 47-27 victory over Ohio Gray in the finals. Wisconsin finished third after defeating Pennsylvania Blue 40-35 in the consolation championship.
The tournament concludes Saturday with Greco-Roman competition. Matches are streamed live on FloWrestling, with complete results available on USA Bracketing.
