Two-time state champion William Ward committed to Arizona State after recently decommitting from North Dakota State.
Ward, who won the Minnesota Class AAA state title at 215 pounds for Moorhead in 2025, revealed his decision on social media. The announcement comes 11 months after he initially committed to NDSU in December 2024.
“After a lot of prayer and talking with family and friends, I have decided to decommit from NDSU and reopen my recruitment process,” Ward posted on Instagram two weeks ago.
The senior previously won the North Dakota Class A 189-pound championship in 2024 while competing for Fargo North before transferring to Moorhead.
Ward has compiled an impressive resume this fall, finishing as runner-up at the prestigious Super 32 Tournament in October. The national tournament features some of the country’s top high school wrestlers.
