Gophers return home to battle the Bison

MINNEAPOLIS — After stepping back into open tournaments for last weekend’s Cougar Clash, No. 12 Minnesota (4-0, 0-0 B1G) returns to dual action as it hosts North Dakota State (0-3, 0-1 Big 12) Sunday at Maturi Pavilion. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and will be available to stream on B1G+ with live results on TrackWrestling.com.

Minnesota is 4-0 on the dual season for the second straight season. Prior to that, it had not happened since the 2014-15 campaign when they opened the year with 10 straight dual wins. The Golden Gophers are looking to move to 5-0 for the second time in as many years.

Since the beginning of last season, Minnesota has won seven of its last eight home duals at Maturi Pavilion.

Augsburg’s Lange to compete in Olympic wrestling trials

SHERBURN — Katie Lange got lucky. Some people search their entire lives for their calling. She figured her dream out before most people step foot in any school.

Lange has come a long way and now is inching toward her goal of competing in the Olympic trials April 19-20 at Penn State University’s campus.

“I remember the moment I chose to wrestle, my dad was a state champion and got us into it at a young age,” Lange said. “I had just finished up at dance practice and my dad was driving us to pick up my brother from wrestling– in that moment as a 4-year-old, I pointed down at the mat and knew this is what I wanted to do.”

Mustangs dominate JUCO triangular

MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team (2-2, 0-2 NSIC) hosted the Minnesota West Blue Jays and the Ridgewater College Warriors., for a triangular meet on Friday evening.

The Mustangs had a strong night, defeating Minnesota West by a score of 54-0 and Ridgewater 41-6, Ridgewater was ranked #15 in the latest NCJAA Open Mat ranking.

Johnnies Travel to Iowa Saturday for Season’s First Dual

Saint John’s wrestling travels south for a 1 p.m. dual at Buena Vista on Saturday, Dec. 9, in Storm Lake, Iowa.

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Four Saint John’s wrestlers won multiple matches in the White Division at Division II MSU-Moorhead’s Dragon Open on Sunday, Dec. 3.

The Johnnies and Concordia-Moorhead were the lone Division III representatives in the tournament, and were joined by the host Dragons, Division II Augustana (S.D.), NAIA Jamestown (N.D.), Division II Mary (N.D.), Minnesota North-Itasca, Division II Minot State (N.D.), Division I North Dakota State, Division II Northern State (S.D.), Northland C.T.C., Ridgewater, Division II St. Cloud State, Division I South Dakota State and Division II Southwest Minnesota State.

No. 5 Huskies Host MSU Moorhead in Dual Home Opener

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 5 St. Cloud State Wrestling returns home to the Granite City to host Minnesota State Moorhead on Saturday, Dec. 9. The dual is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. CT from Halenbeck Hall.

The dual will be streamed live for free on NSIC Network, while live results will be available through TrackWrestling. Links to both coverage options will be available at the St. Cloud State Wrestling schedule page.

Saturday’s dual will serve as Youth Day, as the Huskies welcome all young wrestling fans to come out to Halenbeck Hall to catch the action. Fans age 13 and under will receive free admission to the dual to cheer on the Huskies.
