Correct, they are not doing it anymore.

Participant::Hoping to have schedule released soon
several different levels of approval required and at the mercy of the Conference setting the dates. Which can’t occur until the conference sets basketballs and volleyball schedules as many schools share facilities and needing to coordinate TV times for all of the sports as well. Morale of the story it’s a complex process with several aspects out of the university’s control to release and promote the schedule.
should be a fun year! Get your season tickets

Participant::Regardless, it seems as if I can count 2 losses for sure. Penn State and Nebraska. I would say Michigan is gonna a 50/50 and Illinois we should be able to squeak by. Other than National Duals, we might have an easy schedule comparatively without Iowa, Ohio, NDSU, and SDSU on the schedule this year.
Looking forward to a competitive season.

Participant::I hope they add Iowa.
- 43 Consecutive Years: As of 2026, the Gophers and Hawkeyes are on a streak of 43 consecutive annual regular-season dual meetings.
- The Modern Era: They have not missed a single dual season against each other since the early 1983–84 campaign.
- Annual Tradition: They have met 112 times all-time, making Iowa the most-faced opponent in Minnesota wrestling history.

Participant::You’re more than likely correct. Sadly the NCAA/Big 10 want money, and having Iowa against the Gophers isn’t as exciting as it used to be when JRob was at the helm. Now, what would have been something is a dual of MN vs IA where both sides honor JRob and what he did for the sport. I mean BIG 10 could easily interview the coaching staffs, former wrestlers, and other people within the industry to show how much of an impact he made on them, their respective teams, and the sport as a whole.

Participant::Finding a date that works for two teams is really more difficult than one would think. The Qualification process for your conference and NCAA’s has caused a lot of adjustments to scheduling over the past few years. Throw in the addition of National duals and now a date change for National duals it creates a lot of complexity especially when a lot of scheduling occurs on reoccurring weekends annually. So any change throws a wrench in things. Throw in some time for recovery and all your weekends fill pretty quick.
The Big Ten dictates the Big Ten Schedule. We were just as surprised that Iowa wasn’t on our schedule.
We will also face several top teams at the National Duals.
We have a very strong schedule. Went through and looked at our potential opponent matchups at each weight for the year. As an example at 174 they could face 3 top 5 ranked, 3 top 15 ranked, 3 top 25 ranked, 4 top 33 ranked. Thats not counting whoever they would see at Nationals Duals, Soldier Salute or the Big Ten Conference tournament. They will see just two unranked opponents in duals. Every weight looks pretty similar. 165 is 3,4,4,2 as another example.
NDSU and SDSU we will see some of their guys at the first tournament as all 3 teams are sending their whole roster. We were offered the spot that North Carolina took to face SDSU in Sioux Falls. Which came with $$. SDSU declined having us as an opponent as they wanted our dual to be in Brookings. Which is obviously a big draw for them. Ultimately just didn’t work out. NDSU we looked into facing them or a different school at McEnellys high school, but dates were hard to come together so it just didn’t work out this year. They will likely both be back on the schedule someday.
We have one additional home dual this year for a total of 7. Have Penn State coming in and that will sell out. Have some fun recognitions during the year. McEnelly Banner Reveal, McEnelly Ring Ceremony, honor J Robinson(Jan 10), Honor the 2007 National championship team, alumni, send off seniors Vombaur, Volk and Nagel.
Should be a fun year. Get your friends to the duals and get those season tickets! It’s a great way to support the program. The cost of the Penn State dual will probably be close to the cost of season tickets when it’s all said and done.

Participant::The schedule is a tad disappointing was really hoping we might have a bigger name on the schedule other than Gardner Webb Bucknell in southern Illinois. Sure we’re going to the national duels, but the schedule wasn’t much different prior to that and they’re actually paying us to go one tough team with some names on it would’ve been fun to see. We seem like we are wrestling a little bit softer schedule the last few years, which is kind of hoping for something a bit different pick two teams Indiana, West Virginia. I went to their schedules and they both had a tough matchup listed there for the nonconferenceThat would be entertaining to see and worth paying for a ticket
still very excited for the season
