NDSU Heads to Colorado for Final Road Duals of Season

FARGO, N.D. – The No. 13/16 North Dakota State wrestling program will wrap up the road portion of the dual schedule this weekend in Colorado with trips to Air Force and Northern Colorado.

Dual Schedule
Friday, Feb. 3 – at Air Force – 8 p.m. CT
Saturday, Feb. 4 – at Northern Colorado – 7 p.m. CT

Dual Coverage

Road test for No. 5 Huskies awaits at No. 10 Upper Iowa

St. Cloud State looks to jump Peacocks in NSIC standings on Thursday evening

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 5 St. Cloud State Wrestling continues their five dual road stand on Thursday with a match against No. 10 Upper Iowa. The Huskies and Peacocks will begin at 7:00 p.m. CT in Fayette at the Dorman Memorial Gymnasium, squaring off in a battle between the second and third-place teams in the current NSIC standings.

SIZING UP THE PEACOCKS
Wrestling their final season in the NSIC, Heath Grimm’s Upper Iowa squad enters the dual 9-3 with a 5-1 record in Northern Sun competition. The Peacocks’ lone conference loss came at the hands of No. 14 Mary, while the team features four ranked wrestlers in No. 4 Tate Murty (141), No. 2 Chase Luensman (165), No. 8 Dalton Hahn (197) and No. 10 Zach Ryg (HWT).

Minnesota State to take on Minot State and Augustana

Mavericks host Minot State and travel to Augustana this week

Minnesota State opens the week at home, starting with a Thursday dual against Minot State at 5:30 p.m. The Mavericks travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. to face Augustana on Saturday at 7 p.m. Minnesota State holds a 5-3 dual record, 2-3 in the NSIC.

The Beavers are 6-8 overall, with a 1-5 NSIC record. Minot State’s lone ranked wrestler is 285-pounder Jake Swirple, who is ranked ninth. Head coach, Evan Forde, is in his eighth year with the Beavers and has a career record of 26-76.

Augustana is 3-3 in NSIC duals and 8-9 overall. The Vikings are ranked #14 nationally, with six wrestlers ranked in the Top 12 of the NWCA Poll as of Jan. 23, 2023. Augustana is led by head coach Jason Reitmeier, who owns a 210-104 record throughout 19 years with the program.

Jacks add two to recruiting class

Two more high school wrestling standouts recently signed a National Letter of Intent, indicating they will enroll at South Dakota State University in the fall and compete for the Jackrabbit wrestling program.

The signees are Avery Allen, 149 pounds, Bozeman, Montana, and Parker Janssen, 141 pounds, St. Michael, Minnesota.

Allen is in search of his fourth consecutive individual state title at Bozeman High School and holds a 140-2 record at the prep level. He won his first Class AA state championship at 132 pounds as a freshman, followed by a title at 145 pounds as a sophomore. Allen bumped up to 152 pounds as a junior and completed a 33-0 season with his third championship.
