NDSU Reclaims Border Bell with Convincing 31-10 Win Over South Dakota State

FARGO, N.D. — North Dakota State ended a four-match losing streak over three years to South Dakota State with a 31-10 win in a Big12 Conference dual before a season-high 949 spectators in the Scheels Center on Friday, Feb. 15. The Bison won their fourth straight dual win and also reclaimed the Border Bell trophy.

South Dakota State (2-9, 1-6 #Big12WR) jumped out to a 5-0 lead on Zach Carlson’s 17-2 tech fall at 7:00, but North Dakota State reeled off five straight wins to take control. It wasn’t easy. Cordell Eaton (17-7, 10-5) claimed a hard-fought 3-1 decision over Martin Mueller at 197 pounds, then Brandon Metz (14-10, 5-8) edged Blake Wolters 8-7 on riding time in the heavyweight match to put the Bison ahead 6-5.

No. 14 Vikings Fall to No. 1 St. Cloud State

SIOUX FALLS — After falling into an early hole in Thursday’s regular season finale against top-ranked St. Cloud State, No. 12 Lukas Poloncic got No. 14 ranked Augustana on the board, and even though the Vikings fell in the dual, 31-3, Poloncic improved to 8-1 in duals and sits at 7-1 in NSIC action.

The loss sends the Vikings to the postseason with a 5-4 overall record to go along with their 4-4 mark in the Northern Sun, while the defending national champion Huskies extend their winning streak to 48 matches, end the regular season with a perfect 20-0 mark overall, which includes an 8-0 NSIC record and the outright conference title.

No. 14 Vikings cap off comeback with win – Augustana won five of final seven matches

MINOT, N.D. — Following a loss on Saturday to U-Mary, the No. 14 Augustana wrestling team bounced back in a major way on Sunday and took a 21-18 victory over Minot State.

The win brings the Vikings’ dual record to 5-3 overall, and to 4-3 in Northern Sun action, while Minot State falls to 5-10 overall, with a 2-6 NSIC record.

Minnesota State 18, MSU-Moorhead 16

#10 Minnesota State Closes Out Regular Season With 18-16 Win at MSU-Moorhead

Moorhead, Minn. — #10 Minnesota State completed its 2018-19 regular-season schedule by earning an 18-16 road Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference dual at MSU-Moorhead Sunday.

The Mavericks won five of ten matches vs. the Dragons in upping their record to 9-2 on the season. Minnesota State finished second in the NSIC with a 7-1 mark against conference opponents.

Wyoming 32, South Dakota State 9

LARAMIE, Wyo. – No. 13 Wyoming tallied bonus points in each of its first five victories, defeating South Dakota State, 32-9, in a Big 12 Conference wrestling dual Sunday afternoon at the UNIWYO Sports Complex.

The Cowboys improved to 15-4 overall and 5-2 in league duals. SDSU dropped to 2-8 overall and 1-5 against Big 12 opponents.

The dual started at 141 pounds, with Wyoming’s 12th-ranked Sam Turner recording a 16-1 technical fall over Aric Williams in the third period.
