The 2008 edition of the MWCA (Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association) All-State Academic Team consists of 28 student-athletes with a combined GPA of 3.75. These wrestlers have amassed over 4,000 career wins with a combined winning percentage of 82% “We strive to find excellent students who also happen to be excellent wrestlers,” said Dean Jennissen, MWCA All-State Academic Chairperson. “This is truly the cream of the crop and a great example of the caliber of student-athletes we have involved in wrestling state-wide.”

Eight inducted into the Bartelma Minnesota Wrestling Hall of Fame
Eight new members were inducted into the Minnesota Wrestling Hall of Fame at the banquet on April 28, 2007 at Augsburg College in Minneapolis. Bruce Bartels, John Miller, Ray Miller, John Panning, Albert Russ, Pat Short, Harlan “Butch” Steen, and Jim Tanniehill were inducted. Many Hall of Fame members were in attendance.
Sanders named MWCA Mr. Minnesota of Wrestling
Zach Sanders of Wabasha-Kellogg was named MWCA Mr. Minnesota of Wrestling at the Dave Bartelma Hall of Fame Banquet held at Augsburg College on April 28, 2007.
The Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association annually presents the Mr. Minnesota High School Wrestler award to the senior that best exemplifies the highest ideals of high school wrestling in Minnesota. Judging is based on past performances, citizenship, academics, leadership, and adherence to MSHSL rules.
Sanders is a five-time state champion with a career record of 223-5. He won the Class A 119 pound title this year, the 112-pound title as a junior and as a sophomore, and the 103-pound title as a freshman and as an eighth-grader. He ended his high school career with three undefeated seasons.

Several wrestlers, coaches, and officials were honored at the Dave Bartelma Hall of Fame banquet held at Augsburg College on April 29, 2006.
Eight new members were inducted into the Hall of Fame: Ron Ackerman, Al DeLeon, Pat Dorn, Dennis Kaatz, Mark Krier, Larry Lyden, Pat Marcy, and Clay Nagel. Many Hall of Fame members were in attendance.
