Wrestlers fight ‘mat herpes’ infection

Boynton physician releases new study on skin-infection treatment.

B.J. Anderson has spent years educating physicians, coaches, parents and athletes in the wrestling community on the importance of preventing and reducing skin infections in the sport.

His efforts have even earned him a nickname: “The Mat Doc.”

Anderson, a University of Minnesota Boynton Health Service physician, was once the physician for the Gophers wrestling team and now works with Augsburg College’s wrestling team. Continue reading at www.mndaily.com

Minnesota Wrestling Officials Clinic – October 27th at Elk River HS

The Annual Wrestling Officials’ Clinic will be held at Elk River High School at 900 School Street (map). Registration is from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM with the rules meeting at 8:30. The clinic will end by 12:30 PM with no lunch provided. There is no cost!

The clinic will be held in conjunction with the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Clinic. It will start with a joint session of the NFHS 2012-13 Rules Interpretation.

2-time champ Mark Hall II will return to Apple Valley

Two-time Minnesota high school wrestling champion Mark Hall II will return to Apple Valley within three weeks, his father told the Pioneer Press on Thursday, Sept. 6.

Hall II, who won state titles for Apple Valley while in seventh and eighth grades, is enrolled for the first weeks of his freshman year in Davison, Mich, according to his father. Apple Valley wrestling champ Mark Hall II still might return, father insists

Apple Valley wrestler Mark Hall II’s father insists the two-time state champion still might enroll in the school, and a person with knowledge of the situation who had told the Pioneer Press that the wrestler had not enrolled and was moving to Michigan conceded later that Hall II could conceivably change his mind.

“We haven’t made a decision yet,” Hall said Tuesday, Aug. 21, from Flint, Mich. “I love Minnesota and hope that he returns to Apple Valley. We won’t know for two more weeks. I want to make sure going back to Minnesota is what he wants.” Continue reading at www.twincities.com
