2007 MWCA All-State Academic Team named

The 2007 edition of the MWCA (Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association) All-State Academic Team consists of twenty-eight student-athletes with a combined GPA of 3.63. These wrestlers have amassed over 3,800 career wins with a combined winning percentage of 83% “We strive to find excellent students who also happen to be excellent wrestlers,” said Dean Jennissen, MWCA All-State Academic Chairperson. “This is truly the cream of the crop and a great example of the caliber of student-athletes we have involved in wrestling state-wide.”

Wrestlers, coaches, and officials honored at Bartelma Hall of Fame banquet

Several wrestlers, coaches, and officials were honored at the Dave Bartelma Hall of Fame banquet held at Augsburg College on April 29, 2006.

Eight new members were inducted into the Hall of Fame: Ron Ackerman, Al DeLeon, Pat Dorn, Dennis Kaatz, Mark Krier, Larry Lyden, Pat Marcy, and Clay Nagel. Many Hall of Fame members were in attendance.

Thorn named MWCA Mr. Minnesota of Wrestling

Mike Thorn of Saint Michael-Albertville was named MWCA Mr. Minnesota of Wrestling at the Dave Bartelma Hall of Fame Banquet held at Augsburg College on April 29, 2006.

The Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association annually presents the Mr. Minnesota High School Wrestler award to the senior that best exemplifies the highest ideals of high school wrestling in Minnesota. Judging is based on past performances, citizenship, academics, leadership, and adherence to MSHSL rules.

Matousek named MWCA Mr. Minnesota of Wrestling

Nate Matousek of Glencoe (Glencoe-Silver Lake H.S.) was named Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association (MWCA) Mr. Minnesota of Wrestling at the MWCA Dave Bartelma Hall of Fame Banquet held at Augsburg College on March 13, 2005.

The MWCA annually presents the Mr. Minnesota High School Wrestler award to the senior that best exemplifies the highest ideals of high school wrestling in Minnesota. Judging is based on past performances, citizenship, academics, leadership, and adherence to MSHSL rules. Finalists for this year’s award included Zach Bigboy and Jayson Ness of Bloomington Kennedy, Richard Fessler of Apple Valley, Nick Kulseth of Windom Area/Butterfield-Odin/Mountain Lake, and Andy Przekwas of Roseau.

MWCA Bartelma Hall of Fame inducts five

The Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association inducted five new members into the Dave Bartelma Hall of Fame at their Hall of Fame Banquet on March 28th at Augsburg College in Minneapolis. The new inductees included: Dale Lund, presented by Dean Jennissen; Gordy Morgan and John Morgan, presented by Marty Morgan; J Robinson, presented by Tim Manning; and Jeff Swenson presented by John Grygelko.
