USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle National Championships

Thirty-two Minnesota wrestlers competed at the 2013 USAW Girls Folkstyle Nationals Wrestling Tournament as part of Team Minnesota. The event was held on the campus of Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, OK this past weekend. This is up from 23 Minnesota competitors in 2012, 16 in 2011, 8 in 2010 and 4 in 2009. Besides Minnesota having its largest team ever assembled for the event, this year was also the tournament’s largest participation ever, at 509 competitors.

Emily Shilson: Teen Wrestler

Imagine this: A wrestler training three to four times a week for 10 months straight. Each practice roughly two hours long.
