Senior Zach Sanders is the sparkplug for the Minnesota wrestling team.

He sets the standard on the mat as a three-time All-American and sets an example off the mat as an Academic All-American.

SCSU Enters Post-Season Ranked #1 in Nation

EDMOND, Okla. — St. Cloud State will head into regional tournament action as the unanimous No. 1 team in NCAA Division II wrestling, according to the top-20 poll released Wednesday by the Division II Wrestling Coaches Association.

The Huskies received all eight first-place votes in balloting of coaches from around the country to finish with 160 points. SCSU, which finished a school-record 20-0 in duals, has been No. 1 in five of the six polls this season. Continue reading

Huskies host 2012 NCAA Division II Super Region 3 tournament on Sunday

The #1 ranked Huskies (21-0, 7-0- NSIC) will host the 2012 NCAA Division II Super Region 3 tournament on Feb. 26 at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud. The action gets under way at 10 a.m. and the finals are slated to start at 7:30 p.m. that evening. The top 4 placers at the regional in each weight bracket advance to the NCAA finals in Pueblo, Colo. on March 9-10. Three Bison in final Coaches’ Panel Rankings, NCAA Announces Qualifier Allocations

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – North Dakota State sophomore wrestler Steven Monk is ranked No. 10 at 157 pounds, junior Trent Sprenkle is No. 19 at 125 pounds and junior Mac Stoll is No. 32 at 184 pounds in the final edition of the NCAA Division I Coaches’ Panel Rankings released today by the NCAA. The organization also announced the qualifier allocations for the 2012 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA has announced the qualifier allocations for the 2012 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships as listed in the chart below.

Each qualifying tournament was awarded spots per weight class based on current year data. Each wrestler was measured on the following: Division I winning percentage; rating percentage index (RPI); and coaches ranking. Continue reading
