Eight U.S. wrestlers to visit White House with fellow Olympians and Paralympians on Friday

Eight members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic wrestling team will join other members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team and the 2012 U.S. Paralympic Team in a White House visit on Friday morning in Washington, D.C.

The wrestlers who will attend the White House visit and meet President Barack Obama include men’s freestyle wrestlers Jordan Burroughs, Jake Herbert, Sam Hazewinkel and Tervel Dlagnev, Greco-Roman wrestlers Spenser Mango and Dremiel Byers and women wrestlers Clarissa Chun and Ali Bernard. Viking wrestling 2012-13 recruiting class cited in Wrestling USA magazine

MISSOULA, Mont. – Augustana has been cited by Wrestling USA magazine for having one of the top non-Division I recruiting classes in the nation.

Vikings head coach Jason Reitmeier signed 11 wrestlers for the 2012-13 season. The class was ranked 11th in the country among non-Division I schools by Wrestling USA’s national editor Dan Fickel. Continue reading

NDSU Announces 2012-13 Wrestling Schedule

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State head wrestling coach Roger Kish announced the 2012-13 schedule for the Bison today. NDSU will host five duals, one quadrangular and the annual Bison Open.

NDSU opens the season with a slew of home action. The Bison Sports Arena will host the exhibition Alumni Dual on Nov. 2, and the annual Bison Open is set for Nov. 10. Continue reading

Downey earns silver medal on final day of Junior World Championships

PATTAYA, Thailand – The sentiment seemed to be the same all week for the United States.

It wasn’t what they wanted.

For U.S. Olympic Training Center resident athlete Pat Downey, it really wasn’t, but he’ll still take it.

Downey was the lone U.S. medalist in men’s freestyle competition at the 2012 FILA Junior World Championships at the Eastern Sports Training Center in Pattaya, Thailand. On Sunday, he wound up with the silver medal losing to Iran’s Mohammadjavad Ebrahimi 1-2, 1-0, 4-0. Continue reading at www.themat.com

Hazewinkel family to receive Legacy Award from Alan & Gloria Rice Greco Hall of Champions, October 20
