Recruiting battle finally over for Berge

When it boiled down to it, Broc Berge had to follow his heart.

It’s unfortunate for University of Minnesota wrestling fans, but Berge’s heart decided his best option was to leave his home state.

Huskies Earn #5 DII Ranking in DII Preseason Poll

The St. Cloud State University wrestling team, which has finished as the runner-up at the NCAA Division II championships in 2011 and 2012, received a fifth place ranking in the 2012-13 Basford Division II National Ranking.

Central Oklahoma led the list with 55 points, while Newberry ranked second at 42 and defending national champion Nebraska-Kearney had 41 points. Findlay placed fourth with 40 points while the Huskies gained 38 points int he poll. SCSU was the top ranked team in the poll from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Steinhaus, Dardanes Selected to NWCA All-Star Classic

Gopher All-Americans to compete in prestigious event

The 2012 NWCA All-Star Classic presented by the United State Marine Corps will feature two University of Minnesota athletes. Redshirt junior Kevin Steinhaus and redshirt sophomore Chris Dardanes will participate in the event taking place on Nov. 3, 2012 on the campus of American University in Washington D.C. The annual competition showcases top-ranked wrestlers from across the country.

Prep wrestling: Area coaches remember BBE’s Vos

Prep wrestling coaches throughout the area were stunned by the death of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa head coach Rich Vos on Tuesday.

One-on-One with Dan Chandler

Dan Chandler’s impact on Greco-Roman wrestling in the United States cannot be overstated. As an athlete, Chandler was on three U.S. Olympic Greco-Roman teams, and competed in six World Championships, placing fifth in the 1979 World Championships. He earned three medals in the Pan American Games, including gold medals in 1975 and 1979. Chandler has been on the Olympic coaching staff for every Olympic Games since 1988 and coached many U.S. Greco-Roman greats. He has also coached several U.S. Greco-Roman World teams. Additionally, Chandler has served as the state coach for Minnesota/USA Wrestling and the Minnesota Storm, coaching wrestlers in the state on all age levels. Continue reading at intermatwrestle.com
