Sanders, Kennedy, Chamberlain and Sponseller get draws for University Worlds in Finland

The first four U.S. men’s freestyle wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws for the University World Championships in Kourtane, Finland, which begin on Tuesday.

A pair of past U.S. Junior World Team members will be competing on Tuesday, Zach Sanders (Lauderdale, Minn./Minnesota Storm) at 55 kg/121 lbs. and Jason Chamberlain (Springville, Utah/Bronco WC) at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. Continue reading at www.themat.com

Nine Gophers Receive Individual Rankings by Amateur Wrestling News

Minnesota boasts talent in nine of 10 weight class selections

Minnesota Wrestling is in for another great season and Amateur Wrestling News agrees. The publication has listed many Gophers among the nation’s best, releasing its 2012-13 Preseason Division I College Individual Rankings. Someone from Minnesota has been named one to watch in nine of the 10 weight classes of competition. Only one Gopher is ranked outside the top 10 while two wrestlers took the top spot.

RCTC Fall Clinic/Takedown Tournament set for Nov. 4

Featuring 2010 NCAA National Champion Jayson Ness

Rochester Community and Technical College along with InnerDrive Wrestling Organization have teamed up to host a Clinic and Takedown Tournament featuring 2010 NCAA National Champion Jayson Ness. The clinic will be held at the Regional Sports Center on Sunday, November 4th.
