Marshall, Minn. — After alternating wins up to 165-lb, Minnesota State used back-to-back wins at 174-lb and 184-lb to catapolt them to a 23-15 win over Southwest Minnesota State University.

U wrestler Zach Sanders: A heavy dose of desire

Gophers wrestling coach J Robinson always will remember Zach Sanders’ dedication to his sport.

A couple of years ago on the team van, Sanders was watching a video on his cellphone of a Russian in an international match when an older wrestler approached. He wanted to know what Sanders was watching — and when informed, he said Sanders was crazy and needed to expand his world view.

2012 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals Preview

The 2012 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals semifinals and finals take place on Sunday at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla.

Oklahoma State will put its undefeated record on the line against Illinois in one semifinal matchup. Big Ten powers Iowa and Minnesota will battle in the other semifinal matchup. Auggies claim 24-13 win over UWSP

MINNEAPOLIS — Claiming wins in six of 10 bouts, the Augsburg College wrestling team scored a 24-13 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in a dual meet on Friday evening at Si Melby Hall.

The Auggies, ranked no. 4 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national rankings, collected a pin, technical fall and major decision en route to the victory, finishing the dual-meet portion of the season at 10-3. Wisconsin-Stevens Point, ranked No. 26 nationally, is 7-15 in dual meets this season.

Wyoming 31, North Dakota State 6

No. 11 Wyoming defeats NDSU, 31-6, to win WWC title

FARGO, N.D. – No. 11 Wyoming clinched the Western Wrestling Conference title with a 31-6 win over North Dakota State on Friday, Feb. 17 in front of 418 fans on Senior Night at the Bison Sports Arena. Steven Monk was the lone Bison to claim a victory.

The Bison finished the regular season 6-9 overall and 3-3 in the WWC. Wyoming improved to 10-3 overall and 6-0 in conference action.

Two pins lead Mustangs to victory over MSU Moorhead on Friday

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Southwest Minnesota State improved to 10-5 on the season, 3-3 in the NSIC with a 21-15 victory over MSU Moorhead (2-10, 0-7 NSIC) on Friday night in Moorhead, Minn. The Mustangs won five of the 10 bouts, getting pins from Justin Reinsma and Jacob Begin.
