Vikings ranked 16th in wrestling coaches’ poll

EDMOND, Okla. – Augustana wrestling opens the season ranked 16th in the first Division II Wrestling Coaches Association poll of the 2012-13 season. The Vikings earned 46 points in the coaches’ poll and are one of four teams in the NSIC that were ranked in the top 20.

Defending national champion Nebraska-Kearney is the preseason favorite earning 146 points. Last season’s runner-up, St. Cloud State, was listed second with 142 points. Upper Iowa was ranked seventh and Minnesota State was ranked 13th.

Minnesota Storm Holiday Cup, a Senior Olympic-style event, set for Rochester, Minn., Dec. 14-15

A new Senior-level competition will be hosted in the United States this winter, providing another opportunity for our top stars in the Olympic styles to test themselves and improve their skills.

One of the nation’s most successful wrestling clubs, the Minnesota Storm, has organized this new event, which will offer Senior-level competition in all three styles: Greco-Roman, men’s freestyle and women’s freestyle. Recruiting battle finally over for Berge

When it boiled down to it, Broc Berge had to follow his heart.

It’s unfortunate for University of Minnesota wrestling fans, but Berge’s heart decided his best option was to leave his home state.

After a long recruiting battle and many sleepless nights, the Kasson-Mantorville senior standout gave his verbal commitment this week to wrestle for the University of Iowa. Continue reading at
