NWCA Announces the 2024 NCAA Division III Scholar All-American Awards

MANHEIM, PA – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) proudly announces the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s Scholar All-America awards for Individual and Team recipients. This year, a remarkable total of 418 wrestlers from 100 institutions have achieved the status of Scholar All-American.

Augsburg University leads the nation with an impressive 20 honorees, closely followed by the University of Chicago and the United States Coast Guard Academy, each boasting 14 distinguished recipients. Notable mentions include UW-La Crosse with 13, New York University with 12, Stevens Institute of Technology with 11, and UW-Eau Claire with ten awardees.

In the Team Scholar Awards, Johns Hopkins University takes the top spot with a remarkable GPA of 3.866, closely followed by Heidelberg University’s impressive 3.825. Ohio Northern University secures third place with a GPA of 3.786.

Learn about the latest Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association David Bartelma Wrestling Hall of Fame Inductees. The 2024 Induction Dinner will take place on Saturday, May 4th, in Benson, Minn. Minnesota Named to NWCA Team Scholar All-America

MINNEAPOLIS—The National Wrestling Coaches Association has announced that Minnesota wrestling was among the programs named to the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Team Scholar All-America top 30 rankings.

The Golden Gophers finished with a team GPA of 3.4170, good for 21st in Division I. Harvard took home team honors with a 3.6134 GPA, while only Northwestern (3.4818) and Michigan State (3.4308) ranked higher among schools in the Big Ten than Minnesota.

The Team Scholar All-America honor is just the latest classroom accolade for Minnesota.

SDSU finishes fourth for team GPA

MANHEIM, Pa. — South Dakota State wrestling reached new heights both on the mat and in the classroom during the 2023-24 season, with the Jackrabbits attaining a fourth-place showing in the National Wrestling Coaches Association’s 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Team Scholar All-America top-30 rankings.

The Jackrabbits compiled a 3.5416 team grade-point average to receive the team recognition for the fourth season in a row and were the highest-ranking Big 12 Conference school. Harvard led the way with a 3.6134 team GPA, followed by Cleveland State at 3.5706 and Drexel with a 3.5456 team GPA.

SDSU finished 10th a season ago with a 3.4635 team GPA.

SMSU Wrestling honored by NWCA for work in the classroom

MANHEIM, Pa. – The Southwest Minnesota State University wrestling team along with five Mustang student athletes have been recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) for success in the classroom during the 2023-24 season.

The SMSU wrestling team posted a GPA of 3.213, up from 3.166 last season, ranking No. 21 in the country. Jacob Dykes, Sean Howk, Hunter Pfantz, Elijah Sterner, and Adam Sylvester have been named NWCA Division II Scholar All-Americans.

Four Dragons Earn NWCA Scholar All-America Distinction

MANHEIM, Pa. — MSU Moorhead wrestlers Gunnar Mogen, Jonas Anez, Isaiah Huus, and Parker Benz have been named National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-Americans.

For Mogen, it is his third consecutive season earning NWCA Scholar All-America honors, while Anez and Benz make their first return trips to the team in 2023-24. Huus is a first-time NWCA Scholar All-America honoree in 2023-24. Mogen is a junior majoring in biology at MSUM, while Benz, a redshirt sophomore, is a finance major. Anez, a sophomore, is an exercise science major, while Huus, a redshirt freshman, is a computer science major.

The University of Indianapolis topped the team ranking with a GPA of 3.480, with Lake Erie College close behind with a 3.466. Colorado Mesa (3.439), Minnesota State (3.438), and Wisconsin-Parkside (3.436) round out the top five teams.
