Eischens goes 1-1 at Junior World Championships

Former Anoka wrestler Tyler Eischens went 1-1 at the UWW Junior World Championships on August 17th in Tallinn, Estonia.

Eischens, who wrestled Greco-Roman at 72 kg (158 lbs.), defeated Deividas Subotkevic of Lithuania 9-0 in his first match. He then lost to Ihor Bychkov of Ukraine 5-2 in the next round. Eischens was eliminated from competition when Bychkov lost in the semifinals.

Anoka State Champion Wrestler Preparing To Study Chemistry At Stanford

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — For most high school athletes, their goal is a state championship — but there’s a young man in Anoka who’s thinking far beyond that.

Perhaps it helps when you’ve already won one.

“I’d always known it was, like, a super prestigious school, and I’d always been interested in going somewhere for academics, not just wrestling,” Tyler Eischens said.

If they gave out trophies for making good decisions about your future, Eischens would have to make some room in his trophy case. The three-time state finalist and defending state champion at 138 pounds is headed to Stanford next year — not just to wrestle, but to major in chemistry. Anoka wins prestigious Christmas Tournament

The clock was ticking down.

It had been a rollercoaster team race throughout the weekend’s Minnesota Christmas Tournament, the premier regular season individual wrestling event in the state.

A total of 39 teams from five states, including the top-ranked team in each of Minnesota’s three classes and the entire top 10 of Class AAA, were in attendance.

Deitchler named MWCA Mr. Minnesota of Wrestling

Jake Deitchler of Anoka is this year’s MWCA Mr. Minnesota of Wrestling. He will be honored at the Dave Bartelma Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday, April 5th at the Willmar Holiday Inn.

The Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association annually presents the Mr. Minnesota High School Wrestler award to the senior that best exemplifies the highest ideals of high school wrestling in Minnesota. Judging is based on past performances, citizenship, academics, leadership, and adherence to MSHSL rules.
