Luke Koenen of Wayzata has committed to wrestling for Augustana University following his upcoming senior season.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana head wrestling coach Jason Reitmeier has announced the addition of Jackson, Minnesota, native Caleb Vancura to the 2023-24 roster. Vancura went 48-3 as a senior while helping Jackson County Central to a Minnesota State Championship.
“We are excited to welcome Caleb and his parents to our Augustana wrestling family,” Reitmeier said. “Caleb comes from a winning program with great tradition. He is coming off a great season and an outstanding summer. Caleb continues to get better each year.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana head wrestling coach Jason Reitmeier has announced the addition of Samuel McEnelly to the 2023-24 roster. McEnelly comes to Augustana after spending two years on the football roster at Winona State.
“We are excited to welcome Samuel and his family to Augustana wrestling,” Reitmeier said. “Sam adds much needed depth to our upper weights. Sam comes in with a great attitude and a great work ethic, ready to get to work after two years away from wrestling. Looking forward to working with Sam.”
SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–Five student-athletes, including wrestler Jaxson Rohman, were selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) to the 2022-23 At-Large Academic All-District team. Augustana was represented by wrestling, men’s golf, and women’s golf on the all-district team.
Rohman, from Trimont, Minnesota, finished his sophomore season with a 20-7 record, All-American honors and a second-place finish at the NCAA DII National Championship tournament. In addition to CSC Academic All-District honors, Rohman was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence and garnered NWCA Division II Scholar All-America honors.
MANHEIM, Penn. — The Augustana wrestling team has earned the 11th-best team GPA in the nation at 3.235 and NWCA Division II Scholar All-America honors.
In addition to team honors, the Vikings also had seven wrestlers earn individual Scholar All-America honors:
MANHEIM, PA – For the fifth time in six seasons, the Saints of Maryville University sit atop the NWCA Scholar All-America Team listing for NCAA Division II. In addition, 318 individuals from 57 programs were also honored in the annual awards.
The Saints posted a GPA of 3.487 to top the team listing. Wisconsin-Parkside (3.466); Indianapolis (3.386); West Liberty (3.378) and Northern State (3.372) round out the top five teams.
“We are proud of our team for this,” Saints Head Coach Mike Denney said. “The academic standards at Maryville are high and we want to be a positive force in that. Winning this award shows we are contributing to our campus in that way and I am really just so pleased and proud of our guys.”
BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana athletics is the NSIC’s leader with 80 student-athletes, including nine wrestlers, named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic honors for the winter sports season. Announced three times a year, Augustana has maintained its spot atop the conference in both academic and athletic prowess. The 2022-23 total when combined with fall sports, brings AU’s tally to 177 student-athletes.
“Our winter sport student-athletes continue to carry the tradition of excelling in the classroom and performing strong in competition,” Augustana Director of Athletics Josh Morton said. “Their success in all their facets of their life at Augustana is part of the experience on our campus.”
