Eleven NDSU Wrestlers to Compete at Fargodome in World Team Trials Qualifier

FARGO, N.D. – Eleven wrestlers from North Dakota State University will compete in the USA Wrestling Last Chance World Team Trials Qualifier this Friday, July 16, at the Fargodome.

The event will be streamed live on FloWrestling and features men’s freestyle as well as women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman. Each champion qualifies for the 2021 World Team Trials.

NDSU’s Metz Wins U23 Greco-Roman National Championship

LINCOLN, Neb. – North Dakota State’s Brandon Metz won the United World Wrestling Under-23 Greco-Roman national championship Thursday, May 27, and earned a spot on Team USA for the U23 world championships this November in Belgrade, Serbia.

Metz, a two-time NCAA Division I championship qualifier from West Fargo, N.D., won all five of his matches in the 130kg weight class. He beat South Dakota State’s Spencer Trenary in the best-of-three championship with a first-round win by fall in 44 seconds and a 5-0 victory in the second round of championship matches.

Metz, March, Droegemueller Place at UWW Junior and Senior Nationals

FARGO, N.D. – Three North Dakota State University wrestlers earned top-eight finishes at the 2021 United World Wrestling Junior and Senior Nationals held April 30-May 2 at the Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.

Brandon Metz placed third in the UWW Senior Greco-Roman division with a 5-1 record competing at 130 kg, Kellyn March placed fifth in the Junior Greco-Roman division with a 4-2 record at 60 kg, and Dylan Droegemueller was eighth in the Senior Freestyle division with a 3-3 record at 65 kg.

Bison Wrestling Club Coaches Clinic Moved to Thursday, Oct. 18

FARGO, N.D. – Due to an overwhelming positive response, the Bison Wrestling Club Coaches Clinic has been moved to Thursday, Oct. 18, in the Sanford Health Athletic Complex. The clinic features legendary former University of Minnesota head wrestling coach J Robinson as the keynote speaker.

Cost of the clinic is $100 for the first coach, $75 for each additional coach per high school. Register before Oct. 1 when the price increases to $150 first coach / $125 for each additional. Cost includes lunch, dinner and an evening social.
