Bobby Steveson came into the University of Minnesota from nearby Apple Valley High School as the top-ranked 195-pounder in the country. A champion at the USA Wrestling Junior Nationals, Steveson looked to be one of the anchors for the upper weights for the Gophers.

Gopher’s Seniors Close Out Careers Unceremoniously

With the 2019-20 season now suddenly in the rearview mirror, it’s time to look back at our seven seniors who have closed out their careers in Maroon and Gold.

With over 300 combined victories, 150 bonus point victories, and 13 NCAA Tournament qualifications, this senior class has left an indelible mark in program history.

Gophers freshman Gable Steveson off to dominant start in college career

Somewhere amid Gable and Bobby Steveson’s belongings, likely near the back of a closet or the bottom of a pile, sit an Iowa singlet — one each — purchased by their father when they were younger.

Though the Steveson brothers, who went to Apple Valley High School, grew up Iowa fans, Bobby committed to wrestle for Minnesota as a junior in high school and years later, Gable followed suit.
