East’s Dierks stays home to develop students and athletes

MANKATO — Some of you may have noticed a brief in Wednesday’s paper announcing Jon Dierks as the new head wrestling coach at Mankato East High School.

When coaches are hired at the high school level I usually don’t comment, preferring to defer to the athletic directors and administrators who selected them to make the right choices. Jacks tab former ISU assistant as coach

South Dakota State’s search for a new wrestling coach doesn’t seem to have been hindered by its recent lack of success.

Today, the Jackrabbits will announce that a five-week search has ended with the hiring of Chris Bono, whose accomplishments include claiming an NCAA Division I national title at 150 pounds for Iowa State, serving two stints as an assistant at his alma mater and winning three conference titles in three years as a head coach at Tennessee-Chattanooga. New Dragons Assistants Prepare Team for Bison Open

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling head coach Kris Nelson and a couple of his former athletes join forces again in a different role for the soon approaching 2011-12 season.

Former North Dakota State University wrestlers Eric Sanders and Geoff Martin are teaming up with their former coach Kris Nelson to coach this season’s Dragon wrestling team. The two were brought on in August to become assistant coaches. Nelson coached Sanders from 2003-08 and recruited and coached Martin from 2006-09.

Minnesota State Names Adam Aho Assistant Wrestling Coach

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State wrestling head coach Jim Makovsky has announced that Adam Aho has been named assistant coach.

Aho, a Frazee, Minn., native, spent the last year working with Competitive Edge Sports Camps in Kimball, Minn. Aho also served as an assistant coach with the high school programs in Kimball (2010-11) and Becker (2009-10) and has extensive experience as a camp clinician.
