COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — The Cobber Big Boys opened the month of February by posting three top 3 finishes at the North Country Invite hosted by St. John’s on Saturday.
Heavyweights Tom Bouressa and Cody Kasprick finished second and third at 285 and senior All-American Nathan Schmitz continued his recovery tour by placing third at 197.
MINNEAPOLIS — Top-ranked heavyweight Chad Johnson (JR, Ferryville, Wis./De Soto HS) led the Auggies with two pins and a major decision as the Augsburg College wrestling team went 2-1 at the Minnesota Duals, held on Saturday at Si Melby Hall.
The No. 7-ranked team in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national poll, Augsburg (5-4 overall) claimed a 24-12 win over No. 17-ranked Concordia College-Moorhead (5-5), dropped a 23-10 decision to St. John’s University (8-4) and scored a 31-16 win over St. Olaf College (2-5).

JAMESTOWN, N.D. — As the temperatures get colder outside, the heat inside the Cobber wrestling room starts to rise. Concordia won six straight individual matches en route to a 34-6 win at Jamestown and has now won four of its last five dual matches.
Kasprick Caps Comeback Win For Concordia-Moorhead Over Univ. of Mary
MOORHEAD, Minn. — Cody Kasprick capped a nine-point comeback and helped No.11-ranked Concordia post a 20-18 win over the University of Mary on Tuesday. Kasprick earned a technical fall in the final match of the meet after the Cobbers trailed by three heading into the bout at 285.
MOORHEAD, Minn. — Buoyed by their strong showing at the Gator Duals in New Orleans, Concordia climbed one spot in the latest NWCA national rankings and is now in the No.11 spot in all of Division III.
The Cobbers are one of three MIAC schools that are ranked in the top 30 of the country. Augsburg is currently fourth while St. John’s is No. 29.
Cobbers Can’t Dig Out Of Hole, Fall To #13 Vikings
MOORHEAD, Minn. — Concordia dropped four of their first five matches with No.13-ranked Augustana (S.D.) and lost 21-12 on Saturday. Freshman Chase Austvold led the Cobbers as he won 7-1 at 141 to record his team-leading 12th win of the year.
New Orleans, La. —Led by perfect 3-0 individual records from Tom Bouressa, Josten Coleman and Kevin Fynboh, Concordia posted a 2-1 team mark at the highly competitive Gator Duals in New Orleans, La. on Sunday.
The Cobbers posted wins over Iowa colleges Simpson and No. 16-ranked Luther and lost to No.3-ranked Elmhurst (Ill.) in the one-day, three-match tournament. The 2-1 record brings Concordia’s overall season dual-meet mark to 3-3 for the year.
