Murphy Named NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year

Murphy earns honor for athletic, academic, and community achievements

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – St. Cloud State Wrestling redshirt senior Dominic Murphy (Evergreen Park, Ill.) was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Outstanding Senior of the Year in wrestling. The Husky grappler recently earned his second All-America honor at the 2024 NCAA Championships.

The “NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year Award” is presented to an NSIC Wrestling student-athlete who participates at their institution for four years and is academically superior while making a positive contribution to their team and the University. The NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year award was initiated in 2020-21 to honor an outstanding senior who exemplifies the attributes of the model NSIC student-athlete.

Murphy Named NSIC Wrestler of the Week

Murphy earned a pair of ranked victories to lead the Huskies to NSIC title

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – St. Cloud State Wrestling redshirt senior 197-pounder Dominic Murphy (Evergreen Park, Ill.) was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Wrestler of the Week, as announced on Monday. Murphy defeated two ranked opponents while helping lead the Huskies to the NSIC regular season conference championship.

Murphy is the third Husky to be named NSIC Wrestler of the Week this season after junior 157-pounder Nick Novak (New Prague, Minn.) won the weekly honor on Jan. 29 and redshirt sophomore 141-pounder Alyeus Craig (Wichita, Kan.) won the honor on Feb. 12.

Huskies’ Muphy earns NSIC Wrestler of the Week honors

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State 174-pounder Dominic Murphy has been named NSIC Wrestler of the Week following his dominant start to the Huskies’ NSIC schedule, pinning No. 5 Job Ayala at 2:33 in Friday’s 37-3 win over UW-Parkside. Entering the bout ranked No. 10 in the NWCA poll, Murphy scored an opportunistic pin of Ayala in a battle with one of the Rangers’ top athletes.

“I am very proud of Dominic’s consistent work ethic and competitive spirit,” said head coach Steve Costanzo, “He strives every day to do his best both in the classroom and on the wrestling mat. He is very deserving of receiving NSIC wrestler of the week honors.”
