Gable Steveson has been one of the most prolific wrestlers in the country. Wherever Gable goes, the camera has followed, and after an exciting offseason that included knocking off the No.1 freestyle heavyweight in the country Nick Gwizdowski, Gable is now set to toe the line once again at the collegiate level.

Chasing Superstardom: Dreams of the WWE

For Gable Steveson, he has never wavered from his dream of someday becoming a WWE Superstar.

“This is a dream I’ve had since I was a kid. Everybody grew up watching WWE when they were young, I know I watched it. It’s just been a lifelong dream of mine.”

Gable had always watched Monday Night Raw in the living room. He recreated finishing moves on the couches like Rey Mysterio’s signature “619” with his older brother, Bobby. From his television screen, he watched performances from stars such as The Rock, The Undertaker and John Cena.

Steveson Dominates in the Big Apple

Competing for the first time since winning the 2020 Big Ten title last March, Golden Gopher heavyweight Gable Steveson defeated Wisconsin’s Trent Hillger by technical fall at the 2020 Beat the Streets virtual event on Thursday night.

Steveson Previews Thursday’s Beat the Streets Match

Golden Gopher heavyweight Gable Steveson will return to the mat on Thursday, September 17, as part of Beat the Streets of New York City’s annual fundraising event. Steveson will square off against Wisconsin All-American Trent Hillger.

How excited are you to finally have your first official match since last year’s B1G tournament?
Gable: I’m excited, especially having it be Beat the Streets in New York City. In my opinion, Beat the Streets is the pinnacle of freestyle wrestling, especially with it being invite-only. I’ve wanted to wrestle in that event since I was a little kid, so it’s cool to finally get that opportunity and go do it.

Steveson to Compete in Beat the Streets Event

Golden Gopher heavyweight Gable Steveson will return to the mat on Thursday, September 17, as part of Beat the Streets of New York City’s annual fundraising event. Steveson will square off against Wisconsin All-American Trent Hillger.

Steveson owns a 50-2 career record in two season with the Golden Gophers and claimed the 2020 Big Ten title. He was seeded No. 1 before the NCAA Championships were canceled because of COVID-19 public health concerns. He owns a 3-0 record against Hillger, including a 10-4 decision in the semifinals of the 2019 Big Ten Championships.
