Hunter Burnett Named NSIC Wrestler Of The Week

BURNSVILLE, Minn. — One day after defeating the No. 1-ranked wrestler in the country, sophomore Hunter Burnett has been named the NSIC Wrestler of the Week the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Ranked No. 9 himself, Burnett took the mat in the 149-pound bout in Sunday’s dual with No. 1 St. Cloud State. Across from him stood the Huskies’ Jake Barzowski, who currently ranks No. 1 in the 157 pound weight class.

Vikings Selected to Finish Third In The 2021 NSIC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

Hunter Burnett named Preseason Wrestler to Watch

BURNSVILLE, Minn. — The Augustana wrestling team has been picked to finish third in the NSIC Preseason Coaches’ Poll the conference office announced Tuesday. The Vikings tallied 66 points in the poll while sophomore Hunter Burnett was picked as Augustana’s Preseason Wrestler to Watch.

“We have a good mixture of experience and youth that brings out the excitement in this team,” head coach Jason Reitmeier said. “We have great leadership up and down the roster, and it shows in our younger kids.

“The commitment to academics and athletics isn’t something they just talk about, it’s something they show in their work.”

Burnett Named NSIC Wrestler of the Week

BURNSVILLE, Minn. — Augustana Redshirt freshman Hunter Burnett has been named the NSIC’s Wrestler of the Week the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

Burnett helped lead the Vikings to victory last Friday at No. 17 Minnesota State. In the dual, Burnett defeated returning national qualifier, and No. 9 ranked, Louie Sanders in the 141-pound bout. In his match with Sanders, Burnett dominated with two takedowns, a reversal and an extra point for riding time. Augustana would go on to win the dual by a score of 24-13.

Augustana Inks Six During Early Signing Period

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana head wrestling coach Jason Reitmeier has announced the signing of six student-athletes during the early signing period.

Hunter Burnett (Pipestone, Minn.), Jack Huffman (Omaha, Neb.), Kolby Kost (Rapid City, S.D.), Jackson Stauffacher (Belle Plaine, Minn.), Michael Suda (Pipestone, Minn.) and Tyler Wagener (Waconia, Minn.) have each signed letters of intent to continue their academic and wrestling careers at Augustana.
