SJU Announces Addition of Clark to Coaching Staff

Collegeville, Minn. – Saint John’s University head wrestling coach Kevin Schiltz has announced the addition of Jake Clark as an assistant coach for The Johnnies.

Clark has an impressive Greco-Roman resume at the senior level. He is a two-time U.S. World Team member (2006, 2010), seven-time member of the U.S. National Team, three-time U.S. World Team Trials runner-up, 2007 World Cup Champion, 2000 World Military Bronze Medalist, and 11-time Armed Forces Gold Medalist. He competed in the last five U.S. Olympic Trials (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016) and was an Olympic Team alternate in 2004 and 2016. He is a 2020 Olympic hopeful. Continue reading

GG16: Jake Clark and Alan Rice host German wrestlers in Minnesota

gg-16Episode 16 of The Guillotine Grapevine heads over to Augsburg College as two-time U.S. World Team member Jake Clark ran some visiting German wrestlers through a short practice. There’s a tie with the Germans and why they’re here in Minnesota training for a week and it’s not necessarily what you might think.

The Germans also had an opportunity to talk with Olympic wrestler and coach Alan Rice as he joined the practice in the wrestling room named in his honor. We also catch up with German coach Marcel Fornoff and Anthony Sanders. It’s Sanders’ father who is a Minnesota native and former St. Cloud State wrestler.

They’ll work out at PINnacle and Takedown up in Brainerd before heading back.

GG06: The Clash Brackets are out and a conversation with two-time World teamer Jake Clark

clark-ggEpisode 6 of the Guillotine Grapevine previews The Clash brackets, which were released on December 28. The Clash, the National High School Wrestling Duals, is set for Rochester, Minn., on January 1-2 should be one of the finest high school wrestling events in the nation.

The second part of our show talks with Minnesota’s own Jake Clark, a two-time U.S. World Team member in Greco-Roman. Jake is back training with the Minnesota Storm and even in his advanced age, he’s found the fountain of youth and it’s either from coffee or the warmth of Hawaii.

Jake talks about his past with Greco, the Marine Corps, what it was like leaving the University of Minnesota and how he dealt with the loss of friend and training partner Keitani Graham.
