Rohman Places Second at DII National Championships

Wichita, Kan. – Jaxson Rohman finished second at the 2024 DII National Championships and earned All-American honors at 125 pounds for the second consecutive season after falling to Christian Mejia of McKendree in the national title bout. This is the third trip to the national tournament for Rohman.

Rohman reached the National Championship match with a win over No. 1 James Joplin of Lander in a thrilling sudden victory.

Rohman pushed the pace early, taking shot after shot to force a stall warning in a scoreless first period.

Rohman, Burnett Named to All-NSIC First Team

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- Augustana wrestling landed a pair of members to the All-NSIC teams, announced Tuesday morning by the league office. Jaxson Rohman and Hunter Burnett each earned All-NSIC First Team nods.

Jaxson Rohman – 125 pounds
Rohman, a junior from Trimont, Minnesota, earns his first career all-conference honor after a dominant season. The 125-pounder went 7-0 against NSIC foes in dual meets. He won by major decision five times and via fall once, with his only decision in NSIC duals coming against then-No. 3 ranked Shane Corrigan of UW-Parkside.

On the season, Rohman is 19-4 overall and just went 2-1 at the NCAA Super Region V Tournament to finish second place, earning his third consecutive trip to the NCAA DII National Tournament. He will look to build off a National Runner-Up finish a season ago.

Augustana’s Rohman seeking NCAA Division II national wrestling crown

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Former Martin County Red Bulls wrestling standout Jaxson Rohman has his eyes set on an NCAA Division II wrestling national title.

Rohman, a junior on the Augustana University wrestling squad, is fully aware of how difficult it will be to complete his goal after finishing as a runner-up at last year’s national competition.

Rohman reached the pinnacle of high school wrestling when he was just a freshman at Martin County West by winning the Class AA state tournament.

He figured he would keep winning state since he did it as a freshman, but even with all the hard work he put into his craft, he won state one more as a senior. Continue reading at →

Rohman Ranked No. 1, Vikings Tied for No. 15 in NWCA DII Preseason Poll

MANHEIM, Pa. – Jaxson Rohman opens the 2023-24 season as the top-ranked wrestler at 125 pounds, while the Augustana wrestling team opens the season ranked in a tie for 15th in the Top-25 of the NWCA Preseason Division II poll. In total, Augustana has three individually-ranked wrestlers in Rohman, Hunter Burnett, and Cade Mueller.

The Vikings totaled 28 points in the poll and are one of five NSIC teams in the top 25. 2022-23 NCAA Division II runner-up, Lander, leads the preseason poll receiving 82 points. Rounding out the top five is West Liberty, Central Oklahoma, St. Cloud State, and then a tie between McKendree and Upper Iowa.

Rohman, a junior from Trimont, Minn., has his eyes on a National Championship after finishing last season as a runner-up at 125 pounds. The AU Preseason Wrestler to Watch, Rohman earned DII All-American honors after closing last season with an 18-6 record overall and 13-4 record in duals.

Vikings’ Rohman Named to CSC At-Large Academic All-District Team

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–Five student-athletes, including wrestler Jaxson Rohman, were selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) to the 2022-23 At-Large Academic All-District team. Augustana was represented by wrestling, men’s golf, and women’s golf on the all-district team.

Rohman, from Trimont, Minnesota, finished his sophomore season with a 20-7 record, All-American honors and a second-place finish at the NCAA DII National Championship tournament. In addition to CSC Academic All-District honors, Rohman was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence and garnered NWCA Division II Scholar All-America honors.
