On Saturday, April 23rd the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Minnesota Chapter held their annual Honors Banquet. The celebration was held at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Austin, Minn. The banquet room was packed and included many former Hall of Fame inductees.
Inductees for the Lifetime Service Award were Steve Carr, Bill Germann, Jim Harstad, Mike Hendrickson, Dan Jinks, Don Krusemark, Jerry Reker, Chuck Siefert, and Joel Skillings.
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Minnesota Chapter Banquet will take place on Saturday, April 23rd. The event will be held at the Austin Holiday Inn Conference Center in Austin, Minn.
MARSHALL, Minn. – Former Southwest Minnesota State University wrestler Jerry Reker and current SMSU assistant wrestling coach Joel Skillings will be inducted into the Minnesota Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame on April 23 in Austin, Minn. Reker and Skillings will both be receiving the Lifetime Service Award.
Reker was a four-year letter winner in both football and wrestling at SMSU, earning All-America honors in wrestling in 1975. He was a two-time team Most Valuable Wrestler in both 1974 and 1975. He was inducted into the SMSU Athletics Hall of Honor in 1992.

Six new members were inducted into the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association (MWCA) Dave Bartelma Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 30th, 2021 in Benson, Minn.
The new inductees honored were Tom Campanaro, Mark Costello, Tom Gravalin, Gary Heydt, Don Krusemark, and Joel Skillings.

With relief and optimism, I write this to inform you that we will have a wrestling season. On October 1st, the MSHSL Board of Directors passed a motion for the wrestling season to begin on November 30th. The efforts of many and the positive dialog promoting a safe return to wrestling were a significant factor in working with the MSHSL. A special thanks go out to all those who passionately support student-athletes and their opportunity to participate this season.
Every spring at tournament time coaches from each high school section vote for their respective Section Head and Assistant Coach of the Year. Head coach selections are then put on a ballot to be voted on by all coaches at the State Tournament for Class AAA, AA, and A Coach of the Year.
