University of Minnesota head wrestling coach Brandon Eggum has announced the addition of Keaton Kluever beginning with the 2020-21 season. The Kaukauna, Wis., native will join the Maroon and Gold after spending two years at the University of North Carolina.

KAUKAUNA – The chance to work with some of the top wrestlers in the country was too good of an opportunity for Keaton Kluever to pass up.
The former Kaukauna standout announced Friday on Twitter that he is transferring to the University of Minnesota after spending the last two years at the University of North Carolina.
Minnesota’s top education program was another reason for the move, but Kluever said the potential of practicing with star Gophers alum Gable Steveson and Tony Nelson on a daily basis was a big plus.
“I’ll have two of the best heavyweights in the country to wrestle any day I want to,” Kluever said. “That was a big part. And the coaches during (the initial recruiting process) were great and we talked about wrestling very minimal. It was more about life and there was a connection there.
