BRATISLAVA, Slovakia — Minnesota wrestlers played a key role for Team USA at the 2026 U20 World Championships, highlighted by podium finishes in men’s freestyle and women’s freestyle alongside a solid appearance in Greco-Roman.
The Championships spanned eight days of competition—Greco-Roman competed August 16-19, women’s freestyle August 18-21, and men’s freestyle wrapped up August 20-23.
The Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association annually presents the Mr. Minnesota High School Wrestler award to the senior who best exemplifies the highest ideals of high school wrestling in Minnesota. Starting in 2022, the MWCA partnered with MN Women’s Wrestling to also recognize the Ms. Minnesota High School Wrestler award. Judging is based on wrestling performance, citizenship, academics, leadership, and adherence to MSHSL rules.
This year, the committees are proud to recognize Northfield’s girls’ state champion Caley Graber and Watertown-Mayer’s boys’ state champion Titan Friederichs.
The Minnesota award goes to Landon Robideau of St. Michael-Albertville
STILLWATER, Okla. – The National Wrestling Hall of Fame on Thursday announced the state winners of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award (DSHSEA).
The Hall of Fame’s High School Excellence Awards are proudly sponsored by the Hyman Family, whose generous support and passion for the sport help ensure the continued recognition and development of wrestling’s next generation.
The DSHSEA was established in 1996 to honor Olympic and World champion Dave Schultz, whose career was cut short when he was murdered in January 1996. He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as a Distinguished Member in 1997 and as a member of the United World Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2016.
Robideau set state records for consecutive victories and career takedowns while winning his fourth consecutive state title.
There were milestones aplenty for St. Michael-Albertville senior Landon Robideau to chase this season.

A senior headed to Oklahoma State who hasn’t lost a high school match since ninth grade, he has embraced his spiritual side and “started caring more about others than about myself.”
Landon Robideau’s path has been obvious since his boyhood wrestling days in Olivia, Minn.
A senior 160-pounder for St. Michael-Albertville, he’s always seemed a natural on the mat, blessed with fluid hips, innate tenacity, unrivaled resolve and an intuitive feel for the ebbs and flows of matches. Robideau on a wrestling mat was a no-brainer, a synchronous match of the right person in the perfect environment.
So it’s not a surprise that Robideau became a high school state champion, nor that he won three consecutive championships after runner-up finishes to Lakeville North’s Jore Volk in seventh and eighth grade. Continue reading at startribune.com →
St. Michael-Albertville wrestler Landon Robideau won a title at the Super 32 Challenge held on October 12-13 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Robideau, who was a runner-up at this prestigious tournament at 138 pounds a year ago, entered the tournament ranked #2 in the nation at 157 pounds by Flowrestling. He went 7-0 to win the 150-pound bracket, including a dominant 20-5 tech fall over #10 Blake Cosby of Michigan in the finals. To reach the finals, Robideau had a 4-1 win over #3 Collin Gaj of Pennsylvania in the semifinals.
Three-time state champion Landon Robideau of St. Michael-Albertville has switched his commitment from the University of Minnesota to Oklahoma State University following his upcoming senior season. Robideau made the announcement on Instagram.

Landon Robideau of St. Michael-Albertville and Cole Han-Lindemyer of Farmington both placed second at the Super 32 Challenge held on October 21-22 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Stillwater wrestler Ryder Rogotzke won a title at the Super 32 Challenge held on October 15-16 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Rogotzke, who also won this prestigious tournament at 182-pounds a year ago, entered the tournament ranked #7 in the nation at 182 pounds by Flowrestling. He won the 182-pound bracket with a 6-4 decision over #6 Tate Naaktgeboren of Iowa in the finals. To reach the finals, Rogotzke had wins over #19 CJ Walrath in the quarterfinals and #5 AJ Heeg in the semifinals.
