University of Maryland to join Big Ten Conference

Park Ridge, Ill.— The Big Ten Council of Presidents/Chancellors (COP/C) announced unanimous approval today for the University of Maryland to join the Big Ten Conference effective July 1, 2014, with competition to begin in all sports for the 2014-15 academic year. The University of Maryland also looks forward to joining the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC), a consortium of world-class research institutions dedicated to advancing their academic missions.

2012 All-Star Classic to be Broadcast on Fox College Sports

WASHINGTON D.C. – Wrestling fans across the country who did not have the opportunity to experience the 47thNWCA All-Star Classic presented by The United States Marine Corps live or want to relive the excitement will have eleven chances to view the event compliments of Fox College Sports.

Eight installments will be broadcast via Fox College Sports Pacific and three installments will be broadcast via Fox College Sports Atlantic.

Gophers notch four major decisions to gain first conference win of season

The Minnesota wrestling team won eight of ten bouts, including four major decision victories, to prevail over Nebraska tonight at the NU Coliseum in Lincoln, Neb. The Gophers grab their first conference win of the season and improve to 2-0, 1-0 B1G. Head coach J Robinson is just three wins away from becoming the program’s all-time winningest coach with an overall record of 390-149-4.

J Robinson has the University of Minnesota wrestling program in a familiar spot. After finishing last season with the nation’s top ranking and returning all but two wrestlers to their starting lineup, the Gophers are first in a national poll of coaches.
