Vega’s First Season Going Solo

MOORHEAD, Minn. — While watching WWF wrestling on T.V., twin brothers Anthony and Angel Vega would move their parent’s couches and practice jumping off and slamming each other in their living room. Once they reached the 8th grade they were excited to show off their moves at practice when they discovered there wasn’t even a ring, and that their favorite moves were not allowed in scholastic wrestling.

Now, Angel has left his home in Calif., and is competing on MSUM’s wrestling team for the first time without his brother. Brothers, who have always competed together, went their separate ways to identify themselves as athletes. Continue reading at msumdragons.com

MSU-Moorhead 41, Minot State 6

Dragon Wrestlers Dominate Minot State, 41-6, for 2nd Straight Dual Win

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team won eight classes – including three by fall – on its way to a dominating 41-6 win over Minot State in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference dual Thursday night in Minot, N.D.
The Dragons improved to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the NSIC with the win, while Minot State fell to 1-12 overall and 0-5 in the league.

MSUM Wrestlers Earn 23-13 Win Over Marauders

BISMARCK, N.D. — Wins in six weight classes helped the Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team team earn a 23-13 win over Mary in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference dual Wednesday night in Bismarck, N.D.

MSUM improved to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the NSIC, while Mary fell to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in league duals.

#1 St. Cloud State Wrestling Downs MSU, Moorhead 34-3

St. Cloud, Minn. – The #1 St. Cloud State University wrestling team moved to 12-0, 2-0 NSIC on the season with a convincing 34-3 win over NSIC rival Minnesota State, Moorhead (6-3, 1-1 NSIC) on Thursday, Dec. 17 at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud, Minn. This was SCSU’s 38th consecutive dual match victory.
