Mat Mayhem finals seeds announced

The 2012 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals finals have been set to take place at Oklahoma State University’s Gallagher-Iba Arena on Sunday, Feb. 19 beginning at 2 p.m.

Undefeated Oklahoma State will enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed, they will face No. 4 seeded Illinois.

Iowa begins at the No. 2 seed as they will take on Big 10 rival No. 3 Minnesota in the first round of the Mat Mayhem Finals.

Minnesota wins region at National Duals

The No. 4 Gophers wrestling team advanced to the final four of the National Wrestling Coaches Association/Cliff Keen National Duals.

Minnesota dominated both of its opponents this weekend, beating Kent State 35-3 and Missouri 26-7.

“As far as team effort, it was excellent I thought,” head assistant coach Brandon Eggum said. “The guys wrestled very well. We ended up just losing three matches in both duals, so I’m very impressed.” Continue reading at mndaily.com

J Robinson’s dream dual becomes reality

Gophers wrestling coach J Robinson learned a long time ago that he isn’t always going to get what he wants. But his consolation prize is a tournament he believes the sport of wrestling needs.

Semifinals, finals of National Duals in Stillwater

It was announced on Sunday night that Oklahoma State will host the semifinals and finals of the 2012 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals for Division I, which will take place Sunday, Feb. 19, at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla.

National Duals Preview: Mat Mayhem kicks off around the country this weekend

Mayhem can be defined as a state of rowdy disorder. The sport of wrestling has long been known as a rowdy one and with the new format of the Division I portion of the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals, it should continue to be as such.

The NWCA launched Mat Mayhem to build support for a true national dual meet championship. In the past, this event has been held in tandem with other divisions across the sport of wrestling. Now, the event is being taken on campus at four sites around the country to maximize exposure and recognize the importance of making the regular season and dual meets matter.
